Hi, I'm new to the MN subaru community. I made a member ID here about 2 months ago but never had the chance to do anything, so I'm just saying Hello.
I drive a 2005 STI and enjoying every bit of it. Lately I'v been contiplating on a turbo upgrade for a while now and was wouldering if anyone in the twin-cities area would happen to have any of these upgraded turbos on their STI DeadBolt20g,SZ49 and SZ55. It's alot to ask, but would someone with any of those on their STI give me a ride.

welcome to the board! i'm not a subie driver, but they still welcome me... i think... any ways, these guys are more than willing to help out in your search for an upgraded turbo! do some searches for some answers, and learn to use the [pm] button when applicable. hope you like your stay!

nyob zoo....also a newbbie here. I've been lurking around, but haven't sign up until now. Us hmoob Subaru brothers should get together sometime........I wanna see who drives what. I seen an older dude....mid-30ish with a Silver STI on 36, a WR Blue STI on White Bear, and a bunch of others. By the way, I have a blue bugg eye........with Borla Headers, Greddy EVO2 exhaust, STi Short shifter, Gunmetal Prodrive P1's, Prodrive springs, and AEM CAI.........yeah....anybody want a free intake.....if you can take it out, you can have it. Don't have the cash for more mods right now, but if I did....I would go up-pipe and down-pipe.

Oh, I know! we can have a Scooby get together! Justin and Readymix can bring the beer, Fuji and Fong can bring eggrolls and rice, I'll bring a Weber grill, we toss him off a bridge into the river, then we cook up some steaks....it'll be great!

Hey everyone,
My name is Kevin, I don't know a damn thing about flat 4s or Subies at all! I thought I'd join here to meet some new car people! I'm a DSMer at heart, and I'm currently on my 3rd: a red 1992 eagle talon. Its slow considering it's a n/t auto  Anyways, does anyone still go down to Firestone? I've always wanted to stop by and say hello, but I thought you Subie guys had STIs (they used to be called STDs right?) or something.

How does this site talk about "street racing"? Taboo?

And sorry for posting this in the wrong place before!

I'm a new guy looking to buy a WRX sometime soon. I just got a new job and I'd like to have a daily driver that I can actually enjoy (currently driving a 2.0 passat)

I've got my eye on a 04 WRX for sale at one of the Morries dealers but if anyone knows of a used 04 for sub 17k please let me know. I'd be willing to buy an 02-03 if the price was right. I'm not looking to mod it to much, intake exhaust work and mabey a chip at most.

I've got a Datsun project for my crazy horsepower needs, its a soon to be Supercharged 383 small block in a 2500lb car :D.

Welcome to the site. You might want to post requesting opinions, but based on the mod list and future mods in your sig, I would HIGHLY recommend getting larger injectors than STI pinks for your setup. With a VF22 and upgraded intercooler you will be able to run plenty of boost and make good power, but you won't reach the full potential of the setup with those injectors, you WILL max them out.

Hey everyone,
My name is Reid, I bought a 97 OBW in March. Am I the only legacy owner on this entire board?? Everyone has WRXs. Maybe Outback is a four letter word here! lol. I love the wagon cargo space for my other hobby, flying RC helicopters. They take up a lot of room.

I'm an engineer by day, but I don't do much with cars. I did have a recent triumph when I replaced my HVAC bulbs behind the dash though. I'll be up for new rear pads in the spring and I'd like to try doing that. Also, if/when the headgasket goes (Phase I 2.5 DOHC), I would like to find someone to replace that with along with timing belt, water pump etc.

I've been at USMB with the same username. Look forward to meeting you guys in person. I'll try to make Firestone sometime after the new year and introduce myself. I'll be the one in a blue OB with the lit HVAC lights. :D

Hey, my name is Matt. I just moved to Eagan from St. Cloud. I just picked up a '02 WRX after my '90 Celica GT-S's tranny decided to take a crap on me. Pretty much my first experience with a Subaru. I always had great luck with Toyota's and was looking at another Celica. But a few of my online friends from another forum had talked about how much they love their Suby's. So I decided to give them a look.

Well it just so happens that a guy in the TCMAS reef club I belong to is a salesman at Suburban Chrysler. I mentioned it to him I was looking at them and he just happened to get a WRX in. Pretty high miles, 112k was owned by Subaru and was driven by a rep. A late 30 something family guy who traded it in for a Durango after having his 2nd kid. So it was driven fairly nicely. They were originally asking $11k for it but John brought it down to $9,2 for me. I figured since most rex's with 80-70k mile are going for $15k, thats $6k more than what I paid. So thats alot of mods and repairs I can do with that money if anything were to happen to it and still break even or be able to buy a nice engine.

All in all I'm in love with this little car. Fun to drive, even though I baby it. But I can't wait to throw some parts on this thing. I got my Perrin sway bars, whiteline steering rack bushings ready to go. Just need to get my Kartboy endlinks and heavy duty sway bar mounts then I can have them installed. Then next on the list is the Cobb AP and helix up/down pipe with the Borla Hush dual tip exhaust. Then I will get some new shocks and when spring rolls around some Rota Tarmacs.

Can't wait! I really want to get out and go for a drive with you guys. Hopefully there will be a meet soon.

Howdy, My Names Stephen, and I'm an alcoholic.... errr... wrong place thats mondays.... let me start over...

So basically I just picked up my WRX FINALLY yesterday from a guy in IOWA, so far anywho I'm incredibly happy with it, but who wouldn't be, it's a WRX.

I live in Red Wing but go to UST in St. Paul.

My car is a little bit too unique, even for me haha, but I'll deal with it. It's an 04, with a what I would call pretty custom paintjob on it done by the previous owner. It's got PPG tri-color paint on it along with a black hood. The Paint is a Key-Lime, see it before you hate haha, or goahead and hate, I don't mind...It has a LOT of gold and blue flake.

Got some basic preformance mods, as well as some cosmetic ones, I'll just post a picture and let you all see for yourself and you can ask me if you have any questions, such as what the hell you were thinking and such, haha, hmm okay not...

I can't find those pictures of the guy who rattle-canned his wheels green... was that on rs25.com?

Well Hi ya'll!

While I don't have a Subaru, I have the utmost respect for them. I almost bought a WRX a couple years ago but ended up getting a 2003 A4 1.8TQM instead. My buddy is parrot and he just bought a brand spankin new Impreza 2.5.

I like tromping around in the snow (AWD rocks) so maybe I'll run into one or two of you guys when the white stuff falls :D. Or I'll figure out what this Firestone thing is all about or maybe go up to the ice races. Anyway I'll see ya around!

I recently put together a bunch of pictures for my 1000th post on MNAudi so I'll just repost that here. Each link goes to a photo album and I've posted one selected shot from each album.

Hey, names Nick. I have a 05 silver wrx with standard factory upgrades but im goin Cobb stage 2 asap. I live in Hastings but i go to school in Salt Lake. I dont know anyone in my town that drives a subaru, (except for one kid i went to high school with but Ive got issues with his punk a**). I just randomly found this sight and figured i check it out. Im usually on clubwrx.net. Just figured id say whats up.

Oh, where does everyone buy their parts from. I was going to buy mine from Rally Sport Direct (because its 20 min from where i live). But I would rather not have to drive back to MN with them.

hello-

My name is BIlly and I'm the proud new owner of a '05 silver sti. Only
had 4-5 months now, but am racking up the miles and smiling constantly!
I work in Minnetonka and commute back and forth from St. Cloud.
So having a sweet ride really helps after those long crappy days.

I haven't modified anything yet- but can't wait to start. I hope to go on
some upcoming subie trips this spring summer.

Any advice on cat back exhaust systems ? up and down tubes etc.
I don't want to radically mod till warranty is up- which shouldn't take
long with my current mileage. later- subies rule the road...........

How is that driving working out for you?? If I were you I would get a beater, the mileage will kill your car (not to mention your wallet $$$)

I use to work with a guy who also live in St Cloud...after a year and putting about 50,000 mile on his car, he finally call it quit.

Good luck

Hello all, I'm new to the site, and as of last week, new to owning a Subaru. I picked up an 04'wrx-wagon w/ Cobbstage1 ecu package already installed and am considering a new exhaust. I was looking on the Cobb site and it looks like I have a few options Cat-back or turbo-back.

I was wondering if anyone has any opinions/preferences in this area. Certainly I don't want to do anything that will *hurt* my Scooby so exhaust is about all the farther I'm willing to go. that and maybe suspension/rims.

Just joined the board. I've been on bbs.legacycentral.org for a while. I'm up in D town (Duluth) where the roads swallow whole cars :eek4:

I've got quite the project going. I've got a '93 Legacy L AWD 5MT. Last spring I picked up a motor out of '91 SS (turbo Legacy). She's getting the complete makeover with Wiseco pistons (.020 over), Eagle rods, redone heads with cams reground by Delta, decked, all seals with new water and oil pump. I got the bottom end balanced with the pressure plate and flywheel. 650cc JECS injectors, Walbro pump with an intercooler from Spearco measuring 26x6.5x3.5 will handle the boost from a Garrett GT2871R w/ .86 A/R turbine. It will be a rotated mount setup to straighten out my plumbing. For EM, I'm looking at the Link Plus G2 to go with the Zeitronix wideband w/ EGT & boost sensor I already have. STi Group N engine & tranny mounts button her down. Its all being fed through a '05 STi transmission, clutch and flywheel, with 8k miles.

For suspension, I'm running H&R street coilovers, STi Group N strut tops, Whiteline anti-lift kit, energy suspension kit, SuperPro steering rack, rear lateral link, differential support and tranmssion support bushings. I picked up a lower H brace as well. My brakes are the Racing Brake 4pot setup w/ Hawk pads and Goodridge lines. I'll upgrade the rears to the vented Turbo Legacy setup, with decent pads and rotors.

I'm gonna shift the radiator back using some SPAL fans, so I can put the IC behind the headlights. My AC has been toast since I hit a deer a year and a half ago, so no worries about that. The lower radiator support is pretty mangled, so that needs to be replaced. The center support is getting tossed and I'll just run two locking hood pins.

I just need to get the EM, and a few odds and ends like a matching rear diff, WRX/STi clutch and brake pedals with clutch master and slave cylinders(since mine is a cable), IC plumbing, new hood, front fenders, BOV and what not.

Its a lot of work, but should be worth it for one hell of a sleeper.

Nice. You gotta love the interchangability of Subaru's. Whether it be suspension, driveline, or engine parts, there is alot that carries over from year to year. Wiring is a different story, unfortunately. But seriously, its amazing how little these cars have changed since Subaru introduced the Legacy.

Hey all

I'm Vila, my ride is a Blue '02 WRX. I live in SW Minnesota, so it is rare when I see a fellow WRX.

I just joined this site. Good to see others in the same state with a forum. I usually joined in on vividracing.com forum, but their site has changed much over the years. Used to be just WRX & EVO's. Now it is everything under the sun.

My ride is modified to about a stage 3 level. I'm an engineer, so tuning & tweaking is up my alley. My oddest mod. would have to be the trailer hitch. Some may think it looks odd, but my WRX towing my snowmobile looks sweet to me.

Anywho, I look forward to seeing you all at a meet some time.

Hi!

I don't have a Subaru. I almost had one, but due to some "unforseen military action" a few years ago, I do not. My first car was a subaru and it gave me the love for all things boxer. It was an 86 GL wagon. I wish I still had it.

Kinda.

I do have a saab with some mods though..

But, I have been checking out some other TC boards, and I like this one best!

I also checked out the members cars section, You guys have some nice rides.

I have a 95 Mustang with the modzorz for the cone track (autocross), and some other goodies under the hood.

Also have a Baby Blue Jeep Wrangler that is married to the chuxwagon. Plenty of ownage has been had between the two.

So yeah, I'll probably end up at the Firestone lot a couple times this year with him, so I'll probably see some of you around.

Love the Subbies!

Hey,
I'm kind of new here. Was here and was a little involved in the local scene about 3 years ago. Started my own business so focused on that for a while but now I have some time and money again so I'm back. I've met some of you but don't remember names very well. I had a 2000 2.5RS and now have an 2003 WRX Wagon that has a few mods and is getting more.

I know Numchux very well, and I went to the Firestone lot with him a couple weekends ago and met some guys.

Nate

I just bought a 1986 GL wagon that I'm in the process of lifting and converting to EFI. Man, didnt take long to get into a subaru after joining this forum.

Hello... I'm a newb to the forum! I used to own a 2005 WRX STI and am now looking to order a standard 2006 WRX. I need more miles on a tank for in town driving. I used to get about 200 miles on my STI driving 8 mile distances.

Hey guys, new to the forum. I picked up my first Subaru, a 98 Outback Wagon to replace my 96 Suburban, a few weeks ago. So far it's great. I've got to track down a rear wiper arm though, mine was missing when I bought it (from Morrie's MTKA).

I noticed a few of you are from Orono/Independence... I graduated from Orono a few years back.

Hi,
I'm moving to Minneapolis, and 'am considering my first Subaru purchase: an Impreza WRX wagon.
It is heartening to me that a club and forum with enthusiastic and knowledgeable members exists in Minneapolis; makes me that much more confident in considering an Impreza.
I looked through the forum, but did not find any pointers to honest and competent Subaru mechanics in the Twin Cities area. While I'd like to get working by myself on my car, I'd be the happier knowing that a fine technician is on hand as a back up.
Would appreciate any references/recommendations.
I look forward to learn, contribute and share the enjoyment of Subaru ownership and driving on this forum.
Cheers.

welcome, and for knowlegable mechanics i work with two (at morries minnetonka subaru) driftin240 is a subaru mechanic, subytek is one as well (actually they are brothers) and they are the ones that are building my motor, 6mtizzle has his car worked on by them often. as do alot of other people, wrxboy2003 owns a mineke, he does great exhaust work, for a reasonable price, so this site is littered with knowledge, you just cant see it ;)

Brand new to the forum and pretty new to Subaru too. I have been in the sport for quite some time though. I just recently sold my baby! A 94 built gsr turbo. You may have seen her around, here's what she looks like. I sold her to an 18 year old kid fresh out of hs, so I'm sure it will be blown up soon! lol..sad :emo:
I've always loved the WRX and have always wanted one. Not for serious upgrades, but for a dependable car that can be driven year round. My offer is currently pending at a small local dealer for an 02 wagon.
I'm looking to get to some meets and meet some new people with the same interests in cars. Nice to be here! Name's Dave by the way and I'm representing the south burbs.

When did you purchase the Subaru? I was trying to contact the guy that was selling a black one in Woodbury, but he never got back to me. Must've sold it to you first :)

Oh well, I ended up getting a blue 2003 WRX with 46k on it. First thing that needs to be done is to debadge it and take off the SUBARU on the trunk lid.

Yet another Newb.

Hi there, happy to have found this board, thanks to one of your members who shares my passion for going fast on two wheels.

I am a recent convert from a life long relationship with Volkswagen . . . for years I had operated under the World View that: if the pavement was not good enough to play on two wheels, it was to bad to play therefore motorcycles are for performance and cars are for when the weather is icky, groceries need getting, dog needs hauling, or other scenarios in which I was not going to be “playing”. In short, bikes are for speed and fun, cars are for utility and economy. I have had somewhat of a shift in worldview. I am viewing the Subaru as an opportunity to have my cake and eat it too.

So, I picked up a 2002 WRX Wagon, with plans to keep it as “stealth” as possible, minimize any mods that are visible from the outside, sporting benign silver, and hopefully stay off the cop’s radar . . . while having a little fun every now and again. My dog loves the space and I am very pleased with the car.

I guess I'm pretty new to this site. I registered a while back, but I've only been on here once or twice. Im on Nasioc about 5 times a day however. It's about time I give this site some lovin. I love my RS wagon, but I really wish I would have sucked in up for the Rex the first time. I just couldn't justify the extra 5 grand at the time. I've probably put close to that into my RS so I should've just bought the damn Rex in the first place. Unfortunately my wife and I have an agreement that we will only have 1 car payment at a time. That means driving our cars for 8-10 years. She's due next. I'm going to try and get her into an FXT. Right now she has a turbo golf. My wife doesn't care about cars. Why should she get the turbos? Not fair.

subie4life
October 27th, 2006, 07:55 PM
Yeah, I've definitely thought about it, but I've also read after market turbos on the RS are a bad idea. Clutch not meant to handle it, reliability issues, etc.

tmarc12366009
October 27th, 2006, 08:02 PM
Yeah... Just a thought! I was trying to quench your turbo desire!!!

I'm sure you can have some fun with the NA RS though using that 2.5 litre engine for some goodies and some power increases!!!

Don't let the lack of a turbo hold ya back!

subie4life
October 27th, 2006, 08:19 PM
Thanks...I'm not sure there's a drink strong enough to quench that thirst though. Even without the turbo I think the RS is a blast to drive. I put on perrin swaybars and that made a world of difference in the handling dept. I'm fine with the performance around town. I've got a 5 speed with a kartboy shortthrow and it's plenty of oomph for me for now. It's just on the highway in passing situations that I'm left wanting more! Something to look forward to...

what's up to all fellow lovers of fast! new to mnsub, but not a stranger to the 02 bug eye. still stock under the hood:biggrin: but i love showing off what subaru put together for a base. got hung up on a curb lately:emo: , kinda burned the clutch a little. wondering if anyone with a little mechanical experience on 02's could take it on a ride with me to check it out. i live in brooklyn park and i'm working nights from 6 to 230. anytime before 5 would be good.

Welcome... you should go to Firestone (University and Snelling approximately) tonight. You could probably learn a lot about the car. That is where most people meet.

I am fairly new to the group too and have learned a lot from the people that go there on Friday nights. Some go on Sat too but I hear it is a very light crowd, to the point of almost no one there sometimes. Fridays are the best night to go for sure. I should be leaving Buffalo in about an hour and a half myself.

Congrats on the car! I've checked it out a few times. Hows the Espelir exhaust sound?

Love the exhaust, I could use some snow tires though, summer tires wont work well in the snow Im guessing.

Hello,

Name: Mark / Forest Lake, MN.
Ride: 2007 STi Limited #407 of 800

Just traded in my 2005 Evo GSR w/sun, sound leather package for a brand new 2007 STi Limited in UGM. Enjoying every minute of it so far and after owning 2 EVOs (2005 MR, 2005 GSR w/ssl) it's been an enjoyable switch to the "DARK SIDE".

LOL, love the low key look...

Here are a couple pictures of it -
