may need to fix mine soon, so i was wondering what you guys do for fixing old axles, do you buy used/new or rebuild them? I think I may need to get some soon...and if you do buy new/reman ones which ones are good?

Whats wrong with what you have? Torn boots, making sounds, or something else?

Describe the sound for us and when it happens if you could!

If the sound is coming from the axles (clicking sound usually), the CV joint is bad which means a new axle. Subaru remans from Morries are fairly cheap ($140). If you search around there are a couple of places that ship axles to you (MW axles is one that is great) that do great rebuilds for an awesome price ($75). If you are in a rush and don't want to pay OEM price, Napa REMANS (not the brand new ones, the remans) generally are good in a pinch.

I hear and feel what seems to be binding somewhere in the drive train. going forwards and backwards when the wheels are turned...otherwise nothing. I'm not saying it is the axles, but I've been wanting to know when I do replace them, what to look for.... I have one that has been leaking, and the other is starting to get some cracks in it.
