Can't decide if I should just buy a set of summer tires for the summer or just get a all season set, like this weather we've been having this year(put on, take off, put on, take off) Really like both of these but can only chose one Summer tire, Bfgoodrich g-force sport comp-2 or the all season, Continental dws Have a set of winters and will buy a new set depending on how they handle this coming winter Only considering a all season because of the changing weather and I don't won't to get caught in a snow storm with summers on like a few weeks ago Just a dd, no track or anything
I have Falken Sincera Touring all season tires and they are great tires. Haven't had any problems with them. They also have great reviews on this tire. I haven't driven them in the snow so I couldn't tell you how well they handle. Pros: -quite -long life -good rain traction -tread wear indicator -handles great as a daily driven tire cons: -price -wish the rubber was a little more stickier -not a track tire
I have the sport comp 2s on my Z. You won't be driving on snow in them. I couldn't even get up my driveway when there was a small patch of snow.
Won't be driving in the snow or near freezing temps, have my winters still, this will be the summer tire How are they overall and hows the tread life? $50 difference between the 2 out the door at discount tire
Ride quality/noise, dry/wet performance, anything positive or negative to say about them? Really considering this and need to know quick so i can tell them to order them
Couldn't tell you. I got them installed in March on my Z. And I've driven maybe 500 miles on them so far this year. And it's a roadster, so I couldn't tell you if they were "quiet." They do seem to stick to the road nicely, but then again, I went from a 225 to a 255 on the front, and a 245 rear tire to a 285 rear tire, that added width is going to make a huge difference no matter what. Ride quality seems fine, they are soft and grippy. I don't have any cons so far.
Dws would be the smarter choice, something that can handle the winter in case of a emergency Summer tire or an all season? Leaner towards the Dws as its the smart thing to do, the summer tire would be just for fun $50 more and i could get a tire that can handle the winter and is still pretty good for the summer, though not as good as a true summer tire Decisions, decisions
I think it comes down to whether or not you are someone who is aware of the impending weather and if you have the ability to change tires on your own or are at the mercy of a shop. If you are an apartment dweller and are clueless about the weather forecasts, you should probably get an all-season tire.
I watch the weather forecast and could do basic car stuff but I'm just thinking about in an event of an emergency like having a flat or something on the winter tire and need something to get to work for the next few days or something. Can't put the summer tires on I'll just get the Dws, next summer I'll buy a 3rd set of wheels/tire Always had all seasons up to until this past winter and here it is spring with a one tire choice Guess I'll get the summer tire next year, it can wait, as next year is all about improving the handling Just a lot of thinking and deciding the last few days
My 2 cents: This spring was as abnormal as it gets, even for MN, so take that into consideration. I drive/drove on my winter tires until this past week and experienced no significant wear on them. Most people think if you drive your winters in warm weather they are going to turn into mush immediately and wear out right away but I personally have not experienced significant tire wear even with the weather being in the 70's the week prior. This also greatly depends on how you drive your car in warmer weather obviously and what tires you have. Obviously as others have mentioned if we do experience a spurt of warm weather before spring is really over, swapping them once back and forth isn't the end of the world if you really want to be that careful. I'm sure a good set of all-seasons will suffice just fine but there are many people who will argue that no all-season can stand up next to a great summer specific tire.
Told discount tire to order the sport comp-2 before they closed yesterday, I'll take my chances and cross my finger nothing happens to my winter tires this year. Should be here on Monday
