Just seenin if anybody knew whos car this was if not and you are looking for one check it out. Doesn't seem like a bad price at all. http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/car/576999811.html
yes i tired to go look at this..seems fishy cause he told me that he was only available later in the week to test drive, and then all the sudden it was sold.. but i emailed him again and this is what he said.. "Yes this is same one. I thought it was sold but it fell though. The price has been increased a bit because the windshield cracked last week when it was so cold out and it is getting replaced on Monday afternoon. Windshields are not cheap. You can come over and see it anytime we are home. The timing belt and water pump were replaced at the 100K service interval along with all the other belts and some of the water hoses. It has 3 month old brake pads. The car has been run with synthetic oil since the first 2 oil changes and the turbo is in great shape because of it. It has 121K miles on it and still runs great. I bought a new 2008 WRX and this one has to go."
looks nice, would be worth a look anyhow. how much did he bump the price up? also it's an automatic, don't know if that would make or break the deal for anyone.
auto is fine for me, i am not picky in that regards. I will try and pick this up if i ever get ahold of the guy.
wait, why is he jacking up the price? I'd tell him that you'll take it for the orig price and then fix the windshield yourself...
I think its already fixed..but I will ask..he jacked it up 200.00 dollars only...he already has a new wrx so he wants this one gone..
Agreed. Most people run full coverage, which usually includes free glass. You can put full coverage on and get the glass replaced for free.
It's actually required by MN law that your insurance company offer the coverage to you. $14 extra a year, well spent IMO.
sweet, although it'll be tough waiting till then! (it would be drivin me nuts) good luck, hopefully it'll work out for ya
thanks guys and girl! yea it is tough waiting..but I learned not to get excited anymore cause things always seem to end bad...i will def ask about the glass for sure...but he told me it was being fixed yesterday so well see...I would offer less if i like it..and I kind of want the summer wheels cause they are the stockers and I want to paint them for my winter set and then get some bbs or something else for summer cause those steelies are fugly.
thanks!..i like it even though its an auto!..it was really clean and well cared for. this guy has a new 08 so no need for the 02 anymore. is it monday yet!? lol
looks like these ones on this 04(those ones are after market, but they look identical)..most 02's i have seen don't have them..
Couldn't find enough sellers of stick shifts to let you testdrive theirs, so you settled for an auto?
no not in my years that are blue and not beat to death..or un tastefully modded or overpriced......besides this is my dd so it works for me...that and i will have vw karmanghia in 2 years that will be a manual project car..
Karmann Ghia, two words and two Ns And it'll be a project, that's for sure. I dearly miss mine, even though it was the worst deathtrap I've ever owned.
LOl yea I had an old Beetle convertible but they don't compare to the Ghias...I am used to death traps...thats was my first car I feel in love with..Kermit the frog green (thats what I call it)..I am just waiting for space and insurance to go down.
My Karmann Ghia was a '73 and robin's egg blue. It was the only German car I've ever dealt with that didn't have electrical issues. Of course, it has about 3 circuits in the whole thing. Mine was a hardtop, auto-stick (three speed manual with a vacuum actuated clutch and a torque converter). Flat out it would do about 85-90mph, with a good tailwind... I used to keep a wrench in the car just to prop open the (automatic) choke, because the thing constantly flooded. Once I didn't have my normal wrench and used a smaller one. It fell through the throttle butterfly and into the intake manifold. I ended up pulling the carb and fishing the wrench out in the parking lot of a Cub in St. Cloud. The rocker panels were long gone, so no heat (the heat is via a heat exchanger with the exhaust manifolds and piped to the cabin through the rocker panels), so it the winter I'd have to drive one hand on the wheel and the other with an ice scraper to keep enough window clear to drive. Learned about drop-throttle oversteer on that car... It got replaced (after it blew out a CV joint and I couldn't track down a replacement part that I could afford) with an '81 Subaru GL wagon. Two boxers in a row, just opposite ends of the vehicle.
wow you drove it in the winter time! thats dedication right their! i will comment more tomorrow i have been celebrating and am tired.
