Okay I just got my sub put into my car and right away the rearview mirror begins rattling like no other. Does anyone have any suggestions how to remedy this problem?
It could be all the pot holes we got on the road..All I can think of is the clip on your rear view mirror is loose. Is the mirror shaking or is it the whole car?
The mirror itself isn't loose but it's the housing of it because if I kinda put my hands on it and push it lessens/stops it but obviously it would be pretty hard to drive with both hands on it. If you look at the housing of the 04 wrx i believe it's different the years previous, it has the part that tells you what direction your going and such and I think it's just overly bulky and hence why it rattles I guess too much stuff in there. but thats just an assumption.
WB would be quite a trek just to look at the mirror, I'm in St. Paul at college but I don't actually have my car with me at the moment or I'd considering it. Im waiting for the title to come in, long story, then it will be up here probably the middle of next week but it's not just the rearview mirror it displays the cardinal directions. I'll see if I can find a picture or I'll just take one next chance I got but i'm guessing because it has so much plastic and obviously some wires and probably some other stuff that seems to make a pretty loud rattle.... the other solution which I might do is just take it out... it would also save me the time of buying some brakets so nothing slides around...and some time but we'll see. Just at the top you can see there is more than just the plan mirror but bearly... I don't know if thats standard on most WRX's or what or if thats even what you guys are talking about but anywho I'll try to get a better pic.
I bet it is the clip, looks like a paper clip between the auto dimmer and windshield mount. Usually you just need a good twist. Hard to explain, but I'm sure it is an easy fix...I install them on my customers cars all the time.
Gotcha... Idk like I said if i kinda put both my hands on the mirror and kinda push together it stops or atleast lessens it greatly
hard to really tell from that picture but i bet you have the optional compas/auto dim mirror. see if anything makes a noise when you push the power button. i have never taken apart a subaru one, but my volvo mirror had a clip inside that would move back and forth to change the dim value of the lens. it is concieveable that something could have fallen apart inside of yours.
When u have a chance bring it in and we'll get it fixed. I'm 99% sure it is the metal clip between the windshield and auto dim mirror.
