I just dropped a 2.2 in place of this 2.5. I took the motor in trade for the labor, so as much as I'd like to give someone a deal, I'd like to get paid for the work done.

So. Here's the deal. obviously 1996 motor, 157k miles, headgaskets never replaced. It ran when I pulled it 3 days ago, but not great. Stumbled and hesitated a bit, although I doubt the spark plugs have been replaced since I did them 3 years ago...so that could just be those.

It leaks oil externally from a few places (mostly valve covers). It gets a little oil in the coolant, but NOT the other way around (still has oil in it, see for yourself). It also burns coolant.

    It has not been overheated.

I needed to keep the crank/cam angle sensors, engine wiring harness, purge solenoid and throttle body. Everything else will be included (intake manifold is removed so I could pull the engine harness).

I'd like to see $400 obo

I need a short block. Willing to separate the heads? I'm sure you'll have no problem selling the heads. $200 for the block if interested. PM or text me if you still have my number or just get it from izzy. I'll shoot you a text in the morning otherwise.

This version of the engine used HLA heads, and was recommended to be run on 91 octane fuel.

    both true.

You're right, you shouldn't have any trouble reselling the heads. I'd really rather sell it whole. But if it comes to it, I may part it out.

I just sent you a text using the number you put in Facebook. I'll take the engine whole but need about a week to procure funds.
