1999 legacy 2.5l knock sensor CEL

My sister has a 1999 legacy sus with a 2.5l engine, and here check engine light came on and she had it checked down in rochester where she lives and it came back as the knock sensor. What needs to be done to take care of this? Is this common? Any help would be appriceated.

It's an easy fix, the knock sensor IIRC is on the back of the motor, there's just a bolt running through it into the block and it has a wire harness coming off the back of it that just plugs in. If you look at the back of the motor just aft of the intake manifold on the passenger side you should see it. Unbolt it, unplug it and install the new one the same way and that should fix it.

Yep, I've thrown 4 knock codes in the past 3 months... I gotta replace mine too. 2.5NA motor, cept mine is like 100 bucks for the sensor!!! =( Oh and if you replace it yourself, DO NOT overtorque it.... be very careful.

don't set the torque too high, it adjusts the sensitivity....put it to 10-12lbs.
