I have a possibly stupid, flamable question. If I were to go with hybrid 2.5 shortblock into my wrx what would I do you an ecu, I have an accessport now if that helps and I am just throwing the idea around but I want to know how involved the process is first. Any sort of lists/ approx. costs would be great. Thanks Joe
You wouldn't need anything, as long as you are keeping your WRX heads, you can continue to use the WRX ECU and Accessport. Figure if you are going to swap out your block for a 2.5L Sti shortblock, it will cost you around 2500 in materials.
Well, thats not 100% correct. Yes you can use the stock ecu, but you will definitly need to be tuned. The 2.5 uses alot more air than the 2.0, so all your load site will be off in left field. Russ
Your air fuel should be fine since its a MAF car. Its the timing that really needs attention with a different sized motor. Larger bore means larger expanse for the flame front to travel. I started with a 2.0L map on my 2.2 and I can tell there isn't enough timing in it. EGT's are a bit high for how much fuel I'm running. But yes, a tune should definately be in order.
