It's time to talk ice fishing!
Pics of setups, shacks, gear, hot lures, and most of all your catch!

    Who's been out so far?

I will be picking up my new auger on Friday the 19th after I receive and cash my Christmas bonus Merry Christmas to me! I'm planning hitting the ice on the 28th and 29th for a few hours each morning. Not sure where or when yet, but that's the plan.

Was out on a couple different west metro lakes 11th - 13th. Pictures are from Tonka, got into a bunch of little perch, then the walleyes moved in. Got this nice fat 21" (she was only on the ice for about 10 seconds, I was by myself so it was the only way I could snap a pic) that went back.

Picked up a Clam Nanook Thermal, it's absolutely awesomeness.

The ice was anywhere from 2-3" Friday and Satruday, Sunday it was easily 5" everywhere we went on Tonka and a few others.

    Are you using two Marcums?

Sweet flip-over. I picked up a new skin for one that I got from a buddy for 20 bucks. I've got a 3/8" thick, foil faced cotton roll that I use to do the same thing, basically. The new canvas was like $30 on overstock, so I picked up the whole thing for about $50! A buddy took some measurements of the poles and made (and installed) new poles for me and extended it 6" higher. This year, I'm adding two strings of LED lights in the clear plastic tube.

Actually I was coming on here to checkout some info on changing out my timing belt, I've been putting that off for a while now. Then I saw Ted's post about ice fishing so I had to contribute. I guess I kind of drifted away from the forums here, but now I'm deep into a few projects and getting some great info from some older threads.

    Hope all is well.

    Ted -

Yes 2 lx5's, no interference issues.

They try to get out, I bring 'em right back in...

What's the advantage to running two? Just two cones covering more area? We usually run two FL-18's and one Marc out of our big house when all three of us are there.

No advantage really, we just both wanted to see our own jigs. We're only in about 12' of water right there so we couldn't see both on just one.

Plus when you pay that amount of $, I want to use the damn thing lol!

Ah, gotcha!!! Well, we should get out this winter a bit! I plan on some sweet portable house modz this year... I'll do my best to photo-document. I hope to figure out a way to find a way to click-in an office chair with swivel and tip-back... Right now, I have plywood bench-seats (no back) and use Coleman Canoe chair things made for canoes.

I just got back from Cabella's. 8" Strike Master Laser Pro (3hp) sells for $469.99. I had a $10.00 coupon that I got in the mail, $31.00 left from a gift card, $117.00 in Cabella's bucks all of which, I had planned on using to take $150 or so off of the top. When I got to the register, the lady asked me if I had been invited to the Cabella's Club Event. I told her I had no idea so she asked for my Cabella's Visa. She swiped the card and off came another $85.00. Nothing wrong paying $227 for a $470 auger!!!

Nice! I wouldnt mind paying almost half price for a auger. I'm looking for an auger myself. Went out last night on Odowl or something like that in Shakopee. There is about 6 inches of ice on the lake where we were and we didnt catch anything but a bullhead.

Well I hit a local little lake on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings from about sun up until noon. It was a lot slower than I had expected but I did quite a bit of moving around to try to find them which meant I spent a good chunk of the mornings trudging all my crap through 2" of wind-pack snow, 6" of slush all on top of 8" of ice. Not scary just tiring. (I wish I had the garage space for an ATV!)

I ended up with one "cleanable" Crappie and 5 decent Sunnies. I probably wouldn't have kept six fish but I thought I would end up limiting out. nope.

strangefamous, hit up Vexilar in Bloomington to get a factory refurbished one. They may also repair yours to save you a couple of bucks.

We finally got our 8x16 out last night. It was fun and we ended up with one small 13" Eye around midnight. I did, however, learn that staying up until midnight on a "school night" isn't a great idea. I might fall asleep at my desk today.

Yeah, no problem! Did you find the website with the address and everything? I got mine there as a factory Refurbished model and it's been GREAT! I know they do some repair work so it can't hurt to look into. The people that work there are awesome - super nice.
