http://www.subaru.com/company/news/legacy2010-specs.html So the GT is now going to be 6MT standard with a small performance boost. More interesting is the 3.0R is now a 3.6R with only a slight performance gain. No word on price points yet but I hope the LGT lands near the current one. I'm also excited to see that the 6MT is the only option on the GT, no more 5EAT. That means when I see another GT on the road I'll know they're drivers. However I don't know if I like the looks yet. The pics on the site have no hood scoop and I can't see any FMIC so maybe they're just showing off the 3.6R? Can someone please tell me why the 3.6R is their flagship Legacy trim? Also why the wider tires on the 3.6R instead of the GT? Discuss.
The GT really got dumbed down. I'm sad. No rear LSD No electroluminescent gauges No Si Drive No mirror turn signals No Spec B NO frameless windows and from what I've read will be more expensive. Helloo Camry.
Si-Drive is useless. The rear LSD is still there, they just missed it in the details explaining Continuous All-Wheel Drive (it's almost a trademark term for the entire system). If the turn signal mirrors and EL gauges are gone that would indeed be sad. But the only thing missing that the Spec B had over the new GT is the Bilstein suspension. I can't imagine the price being anything higher than midpoint of the current LGT and Spec B. I'll take one for a spin, but I think I'm still holding out for the diesel. Besides I've got one that was 250/250 stock.
^^+1, definately needs new rims and tires to fill out those GIANT wheel wells. I bet those headlights would look mean blacked out.
agree with new rims and tires, and blacking out the lights...but the lights almost seem too big and long...but it's okay.
Grillz are trivial. Going off of trends, it could be like the BC to BD change, where the chassis has already changed, but sheetmetal is all that it is. Not trying to be pessimistic, but they've done it before. I wouldn't buy one until I saw the guts of it. 2.5, 3.0, 3.6, whatever. If you are a do-it-yourselfer, an '05 plus any of those will put you at the same or less price point. Obviosly not with a warranty, but how many of us have one of those. Not to take away from the factory car, but I just want to see what it exactly is before judging. In '95 the Legacy was a BC with new sheetmetal all around, but still the same car.
this is a totally new car. framed windows, 4 inch longer wheelbase, 1 inch shorter overall, 2.x inches of exra hip room, it is tallr, has more shoulder room, has a new engine cradle with hydrolic motor ount to isolate engine noise and i think they reworked the rear suspension. the 3.6 has a pretty good bump in power and torque and now uses regular gas instead of premium like the 3.0.
And yet still manages to make less power than the turbo plant. Are people just buying the 3.0/3.6 for the prestige of owning a 6-cylinder?
They are indestructable and have a very flat torque curve, if I were gonna pick a car to leave stock, it would be a 6 cyl legacy.
on regular gas that can cost as much as 30 cents a gallon cheaper and get better mpgs. plus it makes gobs of torque very early. some people dont like turbo power bands.
Exactly, it's for lazy people. They can keep it, with the 6MT standard in the 2.5 turbo I would have no issues keeping it in the right range for best performance. I do like the fact that we'll see less LGTs running around.
Looks good. Maybe I can sell off my 04 sti and 06 acura tl(6 sp mt) and have just one car for fun and family!
+1 Wholly going off looks, I liked the outgoing model MUCH better...maybe it's just me, but that car looks just like a typical family sedan with oversized headlights and an obnoxious grille. Or it could just be that color and those wheels screaming "Hey, I'm bland!" After a color change and some rims I think it could look okay. I do like the performance revisions though, and a standard 6MT is sweet. Too bad they made it look the way they did...
