I was hand washing my car this afternoon (trying to get the bugs off the bumper after a late night drive over the weekend) When I was scrubbing with the mit, the paint just peeled right off the front bumper. I have never seen this happen with any of the cars I have previously owned. I know Subaru paint isn't the greatest, but this is totally unacceptable. I purchased the vehicle new in November 13, it only has 13k miles on it. Has anyone seen this type of damage? Do you know if Subaru's 36k/3yr warranty covers this type of cosmetic damage? I was not pressure washing, and I wasn't using any type of harsh chemical. Just the standard soap/water and hose to rinse.

Rough man that sucks. Hopefully someone hooks you up. I haven't heard of this happening especially on such a new car

Should be covered man, worst case it is a cheap repair.

My front tow hook cover is missing a lot of paint, it just came right off. I plan to use the Grimmspeed license plate re location kit, so I won't need the cover.

But still, very cheap paint on my 2014 STI.

I had a 98' ranger for 9 years before this car and the paint looked great when I sold it, never washed it once. My STI is only 10 months old and has many paint defects :(

The bumper on my 04 is doing the same thing. It bums me out every time I see it.

I've seen that happen on cars that have been painted and not prepped right.

Yeah, I have a 1990 300zx and the paint is still in excellent condition compared to the WRX. For a car that is meant to be driven in all seasons and conditions, you would think they would have a better paint job.

I'm going to contact the dealer to see if this is covered. Hopefully we can work something out!

My 6 cylinder makes 1250 lb/ft of torque.
The good news is that it's only the tow hook cover, so it'll be a cheap fix for the respray. Good luck!

I am almost positive that will be covered under your warranty. It's a defect from the manufacturer (as long as you didnt hit it with something).

Yeah for sure! I'm just bummed that it happened. I really hope that nothing similar happens anywhere else on the car.

I haven't heard back from the dealer yet, but yeah it should definitely be covered. I didn't hit it with anything, I was scrubbing the bumper and it just peeled right off. Almost like it was never adhered to the surface. It really caught me off guard because there wasn't any bubbling on the paint or anything else that looked strange.

Subaru has THE worst paint, that is ridiculous. My car has only seen one MN winter and it already is rusting through the paint in a few places.

Agreed. I thought my 05 had bad paint, my 14 is even worse...

The paint on my 2010 sucks as well.. Good thing it has a turbo or I'd trade it on a Prius.
