well i got a flat on the way in to work this morning, so i am going to pick up some snow tires. i found some of these DUNLOP SP WINTER SPORT M2 245/45R17 for a good deal, but am wondering if they would fit on stock legacy gt rims. any info would be great. thanks.

That's waaaaay too wide for an effective winter tire.

Ideally you'd go slightly narrower than stock.

What's the stock wheel width? 7"? 245s will be too wide for the wheel and also about half in inch taller than stock tires (assuming 215/45/17).

    Assuming stock was 215/45/17, I'd look for a 205/50/17 or even a 195/50/17 in a snow/ice tire.

Yeah I am pretty sure that you will not be able to mount those tires on the stock subaru wheels. Some places have issues mounting a stiff 225/45/17 on a 17x7 wheel.

According to Dunlop's website, minimum rim mounting width = 8"

    So no, they won't fit.

And really, yes they will fit. No, they will not fit properly. And your speedo will be off, which also effects other items in your car.

sounds good, thanks guys. i found a nice set of blizzaks for real cheap with 1000 miles on them and they are the stock tire size, i see that for snow smaller would be better, but its not worth the 400 dollar price difference! Thanks again.

We once fit 275 r-comps on a stock RS wheel, 16x7. Worked great as an autox setup.

basically it would fit, not ideal but it would work. i am running 235-45's for winter's because the price was awesome on them.

again not ideal but jeff the alignment guy would most likely mount them for you no prob.

FWIW i run a 245-40-17 on my stock wheels which keeps me in stock auto x class so whatever. it works
