looks like bmw has the lead to start, then the STi takes over, then the bmw starts pulling ahead on the high end and the sti brakes because he knows he's going to LOSE

sorry i actually didnt even know there was a fire brewing.

for the record a 335i with a off the shelf cobb like map, catback, and oem cat'd downpipes hung with and started pulling on a completely mod'd 2.5l wrx w/ a GT35.

I dunno. B'mers are pretty. And comfy. Some even have racing heritage. But they better be, considering what those germans charge for 'em.

I'm a bang for the buck kinda guy. It's pretty hard to beat a subie in that category. Especially an old school one with the manual crank windows with either older or newer turbo transplants under the hood.

280-300+ stock hp and awd in a 2500-2600lbs chassis homologated from a legendary rally champion is pretty damn hard to beat. On any course, over any surface. Especially when it costs about 6-8k to make, including the price of the chassis. Add some exterior trim and some paint and it'll even look somewhat bling.

The best part? Paying insurance for a beater.

This is sorta what I had, condensed

Now can anyone find a real video that will illistrate the true potential of each? Perhaps we can make our own, all we need is a few good twisties and some professional drivers. LOL

Or Justin can just bring his 335i to DCTC this Sunday and hang out with the rest of the BMW guys.

    haha. thanks

they are both just two completley different beasts. both grand in their ways. a very mildly mod'd(less than stg2) 335i will easily take a stg 2 sti though...but the same mildly 335i wont stand a chance off the pavement

Justin is still too much of a subie owner to hang with the bmw guys. lol. i still think some gold wheels and mud flaps on teh 335i and he will drive it like his WRX.

justin: skyline doesnt count as off-pavement. maybe you are turning into a bmw guy....

Like Audi I think BMW had its day in Rally. And with this new addition dont be surprised if they make a come back in the sport, maybe not at the WRC level but maybe locally. If they can start incorporating traction technology that will find traction and stability rather than taking the controlls from the driver it could be alot of fun. We often have our BMW students disable this feature while at school because it takes away from the students training.

Remember Justin, I can't rev past 6000 rpms. Give me another 1000 rpms, and you wouldn't have been pulling.....at the top of 4th gear.

BusaLover, I'd like to race your car.

No more street racing for me. It's just a 335i with a Turbo Tuner. It should have around 330hp at the crank so you can extrapolate from there.:)

Justins has some extra goodies. BOV which gives him about 380hp. (there maybe a tune involved too)

Trust me, I'm not complaining. I spanked him from 60mph, and from 40 we were dead even. He only started to pull at around 110mph. We were even. A 1000 more RPMs would likely have kept him from pullling.

    haha

oh and the first race from freaking 60 in 4th didnt even count...we were sitting in a HORRIBLE rpm in my 4th and you just instantly jumped ahead like i was sitting still. basically because i was cause i had no powaz

just playin with you man. i know you have fueling issues. but on the same note you should be shifting around where your fueling issues starts anyways.

That would be true for a stock WRX. But the powerband is all up top. Rolling to 6500 would have been just fine. I don't think my boost tapers up top.

And I wish I had the graphs online, I don't feel like scanning them right now. But the LSE dyno run shows power holding steady to 6500, the torque falls off, but horsepower curve is flat to 6500. It dips there, but that is likely due to Clark letting off the gas because the AFRs were going lean.

Is that what you finally decided is the problem? I hadn't heard. Maybe you should try to sell the ones you've got.
