The shift linkage on my 4SPD MT is total junk. it is so sloppy you cant tell if its in gear or not. i was curious if anyone happens to know (big stretch i know) if the 4spd linkage is similar in anyway to a 5spd (EA or EJ) linkage?
I ASSuME this is old school? I've seen the bushings just about fall out... :eek3: It is possible to form new bushings from 2-part urethane. You also need to look at the roll pin that holds the shift mechanism on the shift shaft at the transmission. Esp if it is "gate" slop more than "throw".
you are right on old skool. 1984 Brat EA81. I haven't had a chance to look directly at the linkage yet. I was thinking about going nuts on the bushings w/ urethane or silicone or heck even gorrilla glue or jb weld. something to stiffen it up a bit. its good to know that i should look at that roll pin, i didnt know there was one involved. I am still curious is a newer linkage (5sps or 6psd) will fit and mate up. cause that would be sweet, then i could actually get some real poly bushings or a short shifter or something lol. i might just have to take it out and compare it to another linkage.
