I just got a quick question. I know i talked a little with Matt (bikerboy) about it today. Everytime I try to downshift into 4th at about 60 or higher, and now sometimes when i'm getting into 4th from 3rd at higher RPM's it grinds before it lets me into the gear. It does it alot more when i try to get in at 60+. I'm just wondering a coupple things that it might be so when i take it to the dealership, i have something to tell them i think it is. That way i don't get charged a million dollars for them to look around in 4 places, just to find out what it is. then get charged the labor to fix it! Thanks guys

Also what do you guys think about the Protune software?? Good thing to get before my build??

You are going to have a hard time trying to buy Cobb Protuner software. You can either buy the Streettuner software, or have a "professional" with the Protuner software make you a custom map for your Accessport.

As far as your tranny goes, I don't know. Maybe a good place to start is to change out the fluid. Some say stick with oem/regular, while others swear by synthetic.

synthetic WILL MAKE IT WORSE, use some kind of syncromeshing type fluid along with some shockproof...i run straight GM syncromesh, but im sure its different for the sti.

If your car is outside of warranty, and its decided you need tranny work, have Matt (bikerboy) do it, i had to have 1st gear rebuilt on mine, and hes replacing the synchros (which sounds like it could be one of the problems with your tranny?) as well as some preventative bearings etc for much more reasonable price, and you can pick up the parts 20% off from Mtka or BP subaru from Brian or whomever. I would agree with the above and try some GM synchromesh or matt told me to look up the "Scotty Cocktail" on NASIOC. But it sounds like a tranny problem to me Ouch!

I am guessing not at a 30k check up, more like a 60k check up. Not sure though!! PM driftin240, he will know

Check nasioc, scotty cocktail really should cure this, my car was having the same issue, switched and it's "gone".

The 30K at our dealer involves draining the tranny fluid

In my research to my similar issue, it seemed to be more of a oil needs replacement now, then your tranny has problems, though your tranny may not indeed be 100% I think the oil change will resolve the issue, like it did in my case.
