Where do you see yourself in 5 years? I ask because lately, that thought has been on my mind a lot. 5 years will be my first opportunity out of the Corps if I choose to take it, and being so, is kind of the re-birth of my life in the civilian world. First things first. I know I'll be back here. I love MN. I see myself: Hopefully getting back my job with the company I'm at now, but with a bit more responsibility and a larger paycheck. Looking into getting a house out west on HWY 7. Something very small, but on a good chunk of land, because we need something for suby rally meets. I definately want to buy a fixer upper kind of small house, so that I'll have enough credit left to get a large pole barn, or maybe a three stall atatched garage built. Spending a lot of time with old friends. Doing some hunting, fishing, hiking, beer drinking. Buying another subaru! I'm not going to decide what I want now...I'll wait and see if they come out with a new model design in the future. I can only hope. If not, I'll probably buy a project GC, and a new truck for work. I think my dreams are modest, but I suppose we'll see where the next few years leave me. I'd also like to be able to afford a nice ATV that I can use to drive around my property with. Eventually maybe a nice Lund fishing boat.
I've got no clue. it all depends on what I end up doing after school (and, for that matter.....what I end up doing in school :hsugh: ). I'd like to be out of this house, and somewhere with a garage. I'd like to have some space set aside for wiring harness work beyond that, I'm not sure. I'd love to stay in Duluth. but I may end up coming back to the cities for a bit.
I really like living on Hwy7. Hopefully in 5 years, it will be a 4 laner. I'll have a 4 1/2 year old son, and be able to take him fishing all the time. I'll hopefully have a new(er) boat, and the car will be paid off. I'll have a lot more done on the house, which will be nice. My wife and I will have our communication down to an art form . Hopefully, not much different than it is now, I'll just have a little one to hang out with. I can't friggin wait.
you are my hero! seriously though 5yrs down the road, there is all the normal aspirations. to be moved out of home, have a decent someplace to work (in MN of course). By then i had better have my 22t in my car! honestly though i have no clue what life will be like in 5 yrs. I still have no clue what i will be doing this summer (i better have an internship though). I was asked this question on my board of review. My answer was that this was a very difficult question to answer. I had no clue where I would be or what I would want. All I knew is that I wanted to have a stable job, a place to live, and still be close to my friends and family. that pretty much sums it up.
Hmm.. I'll probably be car shopping after just turning 200k miles on my OBS. Otherwise, I expect to be living in the same place, but hopefully have the rest of the house remodeled and a few kids running around the house.
i used to think about this but then grew wise and figured trying to "plan" something 5 years out is impossible..life is to unpredictable. i always have a faint idea of what i'd like to see in the future but nothing to concrete. i much prefer year to year goals/objectives/etc. my goals - happiness that doesnt correlate to finances - buying a camper and trailer to go to track events around the nation to have fun and publicize grimmspeed with the grimmspeed team - hold off on having kids for a bit so i can enjoy the above 2 items - figure out how to go to sleep sooner than 3am and sleep later than 9am - invent a PM answering robot
Are you currently at an entry level position within a Columbian drug cartel? Are there any other positions open? I don't have a conscience if that helps. I see myself with 2 kids that are 5 years old than they are now, maybe a new car, a ton less debt, and still living in Hastings working the same job (with 1 or two promotions under my belt).
Be done with grad school and be a couple years deep into working at one of our sister factories in barcelona or sao paulo, or working for another company, either way, living outside the U.S. Or better yet, be further along with having some sort of viable business plan. Hopefully getting ready to start my own business by then, although I have a feeling it'll still take some more years of development.
