    Hi All,

I need to get the 60k mile service for my 07' wrx. I am in Rochester, the local Subaru dealership is Clements. I don't have any experience with them yet, does anyone here have an opinion one way or the other?

Would I be better off getting this done at and independent shop? If anyone from SE MN has a recommendation I would be all ears.

    Thanks.

NF Performance just did my wife's 03 forester's 100K, everything went fine. If anything, email them on here.
FYI, did the 60K on my 04WRX at the dealership, $600+.......Let's just say NF was cheaper for the 100K and the 100K requires more work than the 60K.

What specifically in the 100K service is "more work" than a 60K? as far as regular maint stuff, its just another 30K. Unless you're talking timing belt, which is a 105K service...

That's what I meant, I got that done too since 5K isn't that far off, didn't wanna go back later.

Clements has a very bad reputation when it comes to subaru. I have heard many stories of cars coming out worse then they went in. I would never bring my wrx in there to be serviced. The parts guys are idiots as well. Everytime I give in and decide to get parts from them they can either never find what I am looking for or it becomes a very long wait to get them. They had no clue what subaru extra S fluid was and claimed in never existed. Id say your better off taking it to a local shop or up to a cities shop.

Have you had recent experience with Clements?

They have a new stand alone Subaru building, I am wondering if they are any better then when you dealt with them. I called and was quoted $750 for the service.

    Thanks again.

If I'm not mistaken...Oil/filter, plugs, trans and diff fluid change, coolant flush, brake/clutch fluid change. Also accessory belts and rad hoses if needed.

Yeah it was an pretty long list of service items. I have a friend who knows some people at Clements, going to find out if I can request a mechanic there who is reputable or if they can recommend an independent shop.

FYI, trans and diff fluid change was not done on mine when I took mine in, they said that would be extra. BTW this was Morrie's. Basically I got screwed over on my 60K by them, no coolant flush, I can tell, my coolant wasn't filled all the way to the fill line nor was it even half way, brake/clutch fluid change didn't happen, they would of charged for that too. So in all, I paid them $600+ for them to just look over my car.
When I was actually there talking to them, this was what was all told to me. I searched extensively to see what the 60K entailed, and what I got from them was completely different. And they even offered to wash my car for free, which they didn't, SMMFH. Hoping to get a nice clean car, *shrugs shoulders*.
This wasn't my first time there with my car, I actually had to go to them for something else, I can't think of it atm, but that was smooth with no problems.

But every dealership is different. If anything, go to NF like I said earlier, good prices and you know you'll be in good hands.

Yeah I understand the cities and a shop like NF is the ideal place to go. But that would be an all day investment for me, to drive up there, drop the car off for however many hours this will take (4 according to Clements) and then head back home. Unfortunately that is not going to be possible for me, right now anyway.

What I really need is a reliable place in Rochester to go, where I can drop it off for a day and still make it into work. I work M-F 8-5 so I don't really have a weekday off unless I take some vacation.

    Thanks again for everyone's input.

You could do it all yourself and save a ton of $$. It's not too hard and if there is no good option besides the dealer that's what I would do.

Don't take your car to Clements. Worth the drive to the cities or the time to do it yourself. Clements is a joke. I give them part numbers and they claim they aren't valid...hop on the phone and call Morries or another dealership and they have no problem finding what I'm looking for.

There are several good folks in Rochester who can help you that aren't shops or dealers, just good folks who could give you a hand or do the service for you.

I haven't met th personally, but I have heard there are a couple of really good techs at Clements...its the service managers, parts, and sales departments that seem to be missing something. I have a relative that sells there and he had me look over his subie...if that tells you anything.

If you want to find a local connection in Rochester just ask, there are plenty of good wrenchers down that way that would probably help you out.
