Hey guys, been a while since i have been on here, Looking at getting back into the subie scene and test drove an 88 GL wagon tonight. I have a few questions for you guys that know that model well, I am sure there are a few of you guys on here. http://greatfalls.craigslist.org/cto/2780155818.html 5 spd, high/low/4wd 142k Those pics make it look 5 times better than in person (usual) Theres the cl ad, dont get too excited, its in Montana The guy said he purchased it non running and went through it and got it up to speed. Couple concerns though, 1. CEL was on. (common with theses?) 2. After it warmed up, the oil pressure would drop real low when idleing.. 3. Bogged pretty bad until 2.5-3k rpms 4. Was leaking a little oil, looked like the drivers side valve cover (seller said he would diagnose/fix that tomorrow.. 5. Was sure i was able to get it into 4wd low, but high 4wd was hard to find/ couldn't really tell if i was in high 4wd or just FWD. When i put it to the slot for High 4wd it just acted like it was in neutral. (no slippery sufaces around to check on Common for those levers to be a bit sloppy? How fast can one go in high 4wd? Other than that it was a blast to drive. I have been driving a full size truck for a few years and miss having a car. This would be my beater/commuter car. Prob do about 20k miles a year in it if it ran the whole time. 50/50 city/highway miles. Hes asking $1200. Fair price? Body and interior are super beat up, but functional, no real rust to mention. Thanks for your comments/advice
We had an 84 GL wagon back in the day. Dependable...yes. Can't answer your questions but thought I would at least tell you there is an 87 GL wagon parts car at upull in East Bethel...should you need some stuff.
