also, how do I take off the crank timing gear there?

 

nope, some foamy slipknot stuff you get at the hardware store, worked good!

 

it just slides off

 

I use 3M brake cleaner and a little brush/pick. I think I went through like 5-7 bottles and almost lost my hair.

There was A LOT of grease I tell you.
