So I went to Jeff "The Alignment Guy" today and sadly he accidentally pulled the passenger side front ABS sensor out, we have already worked out the details but my question is does anyone have a 02-05 right front ABS sensor? Morries wants 116 and some change (which I am not complaining about) but if I could get one cheaper then Jeff and I would greatly appreciate it. Also pros and cons of driving with out ABS and if I were to go without it how do I get the light to go off on the dash? -Chet
You whipper snappers, jeesh. I'm more scared of the Suby ABS doing its "thing" going over rough pavement than snow... I remember when ABS was a "new" technology. There's gnomes in them thar brakes making decisions fur ya!
Advice - U-pull for the sensor? You check any yards yet Chet? As for the mean time, leave the fuse in, less likely you'll lose it. Same malfunction anyway. Oh, and put some black electrician's tape over the light and don't worry about it.
I broke my sensor 2 years ago. Drove 1 winter and summer without ABS then fixed it and this winter had ABS. The ABS tends to kick in when it isn't needed which is all the time. I really could care less if it was there or not.
I hear newer abs is better...but in my 02' WRX which I have driven daily for 60,000K+ in all seasons...I have been glad to have ABS once, whereas I have cursed it being in the car many, many, many times over. Probably boils down to personal preferance...if you grew up with a car that had no abs, and remember how to threshhold brake, you'll probably be fine. If you're a pedal masher, get the abs fixed.
Completely agree - ABS isn't necessary if you know how to brake properly. Another one of those frilly safety things that really is engineering a bandaid for a problem the engineers can't fix. The driver.
I love hearing that statement when it's been proven time and time again the ABS does in fact help you to stop faster in most situations. But then again, what do those silly government types all over the world know anyway. Seat belts are FTL too... Just hold on tight!
if the light bothers you, you can always pull the gauge cluster and remove the bulb. thats what i did with mine.
as been stated, run with out it. if you NEED it, personally i would just step up and spend the cash on a new sensor.
ABS gives you steering control in an emergency braking situation, it doesn't help you stop faster. I am not going to argue against belts, but I will argue against airbags.
No need thats taken care of ... does anyone have one from there swapped cars laying around ... Ryan I'm looking toward Brainerd at you!
