[rant] Here's the story. Last year I had some "front end work" done and part of that included the power steering belt. Over the last few months. The AC belt has been calling out a quick 'chrip' each time the compressor is engaged. So tonite, I went to put on a couple new belts from Checkers. I got a 4040350 (4pk0890) Gatorback for the AC and a 4050350 (5pk0890) for the power steering. The 4040350 (5pk0890) was too short for the AC and a 4040360 was too long. Then I tried the 4050350 for the power steering. It was too long also. So I go back and look at what was actually on the car. The AC was a 4pk0895 (Fuji) and the PS was 5pk877 (Mitsu). Here are the specs for the belts that are sold at Checkers _____________________AC Belt_______PS Belt PART NUMBER.............4040350...........4050350 METRIC PART NO.........4PK0890...........5PK0890 NO RIBS.....................4.....................5 EFFECTIVE LENGTH......35...................35 OUTSIDE LENGTH.........35.75..............35.75 The Closest ones I could find are these, but not sure where to get them. (here http://www.goodyearep.com/productsdetail.aspx?id=3128) PART NUMBER.............4040355...........4050345 METRIC PART NO.........4PK0900...........5PK0875 NO RIBS.....................4....................5 EFFECTIVE LENGTH......35.5................34.5 OUTSIDE LENGTH.........36.25..............35.25 Then as soon as I find this, I find this on their website 5040355 Dayco Serpentine Belt: 9/16" x 35.5" 4 Rib Poly Cog; Comp. & Idler, w/A.C. 5050345 Dayco Serpentine Belt: 45/64" x 34.5" 5 Rib Poly Cog; Alt. & P.S. They told me that they two things... They don't carry anything but Goodyear and they don't have internet. So if you find parts cheaper on the website partsamerica.com, you still have to print it off and bring it in. They won't be able to look it up... Yet they have system wide parts inventory from store to store. [/rant] Now, do I have to go to the dealer to get new belts? Where does everyone get theirs?
This was a last minute decision to fix this tonite. You know what they say about 'proper prior planning..." I posted on the Vendor thread for Brooklyn Park for prices. Hopefully I get a response in the morning. I'll have to go for a drive.
Yeah, those last minute fixes can put ya in a pinch...I know that personally. Morries will get you up and running with no confusion or delay...
I got mine from napa. it was a PITA. i am running an underdrive pulley so the belt lenghts are not stock. it took alot of trial and error to find the right lenght (i have no clue what it is)
