anyone out there run an air oil separator on their car. i was thinking of putting a Grimmspeed air oil separator on my 2010 STI. a little on the spendy side, but i think it looks cool and performs what appears to be a beneficial function. the car is stock, but i have been giving some serious thought to having an open tune done on it.
I have also been thinking about picking one of these up. I go through around a quart of oil between oil changes, every 3000, and would like to know if this item would help with the oil consumption. I'm not sure if it is getting burned up, or just blowing through the system.
i haven't had any problems with oil consumption at all, the car has a little over 16k on it and no mods. have been thinking of going to the 5w30 redline oil and a more high line oil filter like k&n, prova or something along that line just as an enhancement. have used the subaru synthetic oil and subaru oil filter with no problems that i'm aware of so far.
I don't use Mobile 1 if that is what you are thinking. I use either Ams Oil or Valvoline full synthetic. It doesn't seem to matter what oil I use, it goes through around a quart every 3K
I know in my old WRX after about 2500 miles on an oil change it would start to loose a lil oil. Probably a 1/2 quart between 2500 and 3500 miles on that oil change. But, only in the summer( I did a lot of Auto-x, so I would guess it was the oil breaking down from heavy use).
good read I would go for the Crawford unit if i was you. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2228499&highlight=crawford+aos
