So i got an alignment today at one of the few shops in SLC that is willing to touch them. (Cobb wont). And now my steering wheel is at about 1oclock intead of 12. Is this typical of subarus? Bad alignment... It also seems a bit odd that they could only get -1.4 out of the front with camber plates and stock camber bolts as well. anyways ..opinions? camber was as follows Front -1.4/-1.4 0 toe caster = 4.5? Rear -2.5/-2.5 0 toe caster i cant remember
No that is not typical of subaru's, that is typical of a bad alignment. What suspension mods do you have and how far is this car lowered? -2.5 rear camber is way too much. -1.4 in the front is not enough. With the plates and bolts you should be able to get much more than that. I am thinking this shop didn't know how to adjust a modded suspension. (Where is SLC?)
I live in South Jordan currently. The shop was in West Jordan? Yeah..typical **** as usual. -2.5 in the rear will require camber bolts to fix im assuming?
yeah, rears have pretty much no camber adjustability stock. how low are you? i'm pretty low and got -2 degrees in the rear on my STi
with plates up front you should be able to achieve -3, and with bolts in the rear you will be able to gain more + camber. i got mine done last week and if they had not let me go in back with the tech who knows what would have happened. we set my plates to 0 and then maxed out the front bolts (0 cross camber), after that we dialed the front in with the plates and marked the settings . now if i hit the track i can get -3.2 on both sides and put it back to street settings when done. bolts in the rear can go from +2 to -2 from where it sits now. i ended up with -1.7 in front and - 1.4 in the rear and love it, its a real neutral feel. i hope this helps Bryton
obviously not JORDAN MN?? they have 1 traffic light yet alone a sth side or west side.. ha ha i know I live there... they never set the toe according to the steering wheel.... usually the machine does it all for you you just follow instructions.. its pretty easy that even I can do it... he he he
He means Jordan, UT. just outside Salt lake City. What are your suspension modifications? Personally, I'd do some research and figure out the best alignment for your mods and driving habits. Then call around and get a performance shop or a local tuner to help you with the alignment. BTW= Not centering the steering wheel is a common problem with less than skilled techs and shops. Have them fix it...or fix it when you get it done again somewhere else
Yeah I sure as hell will be getting my money back or taking it to another les schwab to get it redone after in install camber bolts hahahaha
omfg those are some bad numbers. you should reverse your front and rear settings at the very least. 2.5 neg camber in back is ridiculous. should be closer to 1. or .08, If they can only get 1.5 neg in front and you have camber plates that is insane. you can get 1.5 neg with no camber plates sometimes. These people are frauds and I'd demand my money back. front should be round 2 unless you want to start chewing off your tires. That they would even give it to you with those alignmnet numbers shows how bad of a shop it was. Sounds like he was trying to set up a mustang.
