I'm thinking, if I'm going to do this crew chief thing for 2 GDs, I should maybe look into some of this open source tuning stuff. I don't plan on doing full tunes, but it would be nice to do some code suppression/reading, small changes (like bumping up the idle on #171 at 100AW), and maybe read some real-time data for troubleshooting. I know, NOTHING, about this stuff. I've started searching/reading about it, but still...nothing. primarily it'll be for the '04 STi and an '02 WRX. but for this year, we're running an '02 RS ECU, and I'd like to be able to read/modify the info on that if possible (I thought I read that it was possible....somewhere).
I don't know anything about the open source functionality (Link ftw) but romraider.com is where to start. In the end, fuel is fuel, and timing is timing.
So, you're wanting to know if you can tune the 02 RS ecu? Quick answer, no for the NA, 05+ can be tuned. As for the 04sti and 02wrx, what did you want to know?
Yup, you're going to be out of luck in terms of os tuning with the 02 RS ECU. For the STI and WRX, I'd recommend downloading RomRaider and some ROM's, and playing around. Also, read the FAQ, and start browsing the forums.
ROM RAIDer fTW!!! Chux we are probably gonna need to find a tatrix cable and make sure the software is on one of the laptops we will be taking with us to rally... I have an extra HP but its big bulky and needs some work on the power supply
yea, I've used the Link program, and PP6 a bit. but that's it. I found the NASIOC FAQ last night, and that helped a lot. I'll study the romraider one tonight, Thanks! alright, so the RS ECU can't be modified at all. How about just reading? datalogging, and reading real-time sensor data (AFR, timing, knock, I don't know.....if the car is running like crap, quickly pin point why)? I've got my Toshiba laptop, which is not terribly valuable, and a beast. I was just looking for recommendations on programs and such.....sounds like romraider is the way to go.
