What's up guys. I'm somewhat new to the Subaru game, but have been doing lots of reading, and forum lurking on various forums. I bought a 1998 Subaru Impreza L a month or so back, that needed a little body work. I've been working on amassing body parts to straighten it out, and to give it a style that I like, and wanted to see what suggestions you have. All I have so far is new passenger door, new passenger fender, a 2.5RS coupe spoiler. Further plans is 2.5RS front bumper, keep my L scoopless hood, jdm bumper support, STi v6 replica lip, and maybe some rear spats. Is there any other exterior pieces that would good that you think I should consider? Just want to make sure there isn't other stuff out there I'm missing the opportunity on. Ready.... go!
my best piece of advice, its do what you like. I know its not so bad on this forum but on vw forums all you would get is what the mainstream thinks is cool. So just put the car together so every time you see it you just want to hump it lol.
get some aeroguards along with spats too [:yumyum: if you havent already, check out rs25.com. can get LOADS of ideas from there
I'm a firm believer in that I just want to make sure there aren't things I'm overlooking. Like other lip styles, and things like that.
Just make it look like this one and call it a day. http://www.rs25.com/forums/f145/t107451-devil-details-gc-goodness-inside.html
I like it, it's unusual and stands out. WRB and Silver are getting overplayed IMO. That being said, I'd love to see that car in DGM.
This is what i was thinking, but if i decide to be a little more different i might do snow camo... the 96's have the old style headlights dont they? if so i'd say get the newer L hood, headlights and grill... bumper and support, rs side skirts, rear spats... and if u got some bank 22b widebody kit (if it's a coupe, soo sexy).. but that's just me....
stickers... lots of stickers..... JK... what Joel posted is HAWT... simple and not like EVERY other subaru around..
The flat gold is interesting, but I say you go with a base/clear, ALWAYS. Nothing compares to the durability and corrosion protection of said system. Aside from my little rant, I personally like colors that aren't loud and obnoxious. Something subtle yet nice. Like what I painted my engine bay with. Looks benign yet has a lot going on. JBP is an example, but has been used a lot. Real paint is very expensive by itself, then you quadruple the cost by paying someone to do it. As far as add-on body parts, a nice lip does wonders and keeps it from looking gaudy, unless you go with a widebody kit, which is expensive. There have been some good suggestions thus far.
yeah mine is a 98 already. never been a widebody person, so I'd pass on that. color wise, I haven't decided anything yet. I think I'll just stick with the basics: 2.5RS bumper Keep my L hood 2.5RS headlights (maybe blackhousing) lip for front bumper RS sideskirts 2.5RS coupe spoller rear spats Pretty much look like everyone else, but it's clean, and it seems like the way to go on these cars. If you have any other suggestions, keep them coming. The next thing I have to figure out is wheels, but that's a little ways down the road right now.
I really like that flat tan look, but I think that car could be done in different colors and still look great. It's simple, the colors are well balanced, I think it's an extremely well done daily driver. I agree that a cleanly done L can look really hot.
i agree with what everyone else has been saying, DONT do it if your not stoaked about it, if everyone tells you it looks awesome but you look at it and are like ehhh? then i would suggest not doing it because youll never be happy with it, but i have a few suggestions on things you should consider -tint, like 35 percent, noticable but you wont get tickets for it -paint your badge, most of the time some color that will accent your car nice, this guy did an awesome write up on it and i followed it when i did mine, http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1210134&highlight=paint+badge -paint your brake calipers to match the badge if you do that, or another good accent color -pinstripe around your grill, i love the look of this and its EASY, it just takes time, heres a write up on that http://www.iwsti.com/forums/gd-exterior/46956-2006-grill-removal-sti-badge-delete.html -if you have the money get some nice rims with aggresive tires, ive had great luck with the bridgestone blizzacks thats all ive got for ya, i hope everything goes well and turns out the way you want it too!
Blizzaks for winter use? or year round use? Most of us usually run stock/steelies in the winter and some sort of nice wheel/tire set up in the summer.
