Hmmmm....was wondering if anyone on here bowhunts??? Archery opener is this weekend, WOOT!!! If so, where?? what brand of bow, arrows, broadheads?? I shoot a Mathews Outback, Carbon 6075s, and rocket hammerheads.
I don't bowhunt, but I do shoot for fun. Speaking of bows, I need to wax my strings. Owie. I missed it last year...
My dad is a avid bow hunter. We probably have 50-60 bow's at the house, and about 50 guns. Mathews bow's are niiice!
yeah i go every year! so excited. got a Lynx bow and use easton arrows. any one have those knocks that glow in the dark? cant remember what there called but look sweet and look like there usefull.
I HAD a Mathews; MQ32. All my brother's and my Dad we all shoot Mathews. Both my older brother's have the Black MAX II. Very fast bows! We shoot 100gran carbon arrows. Mine shot at 230fps, my brothers; 260fps and 290fps. This year I get to go up north for the Camp Ripley hunt again. Big bucks up there! Another chance this year at getting one. I have my 12pt buck on the wall....let me get a pick...
I have Bow Hunted for years, but now the time is of short supply, and I shotgun hunt instead. My climber and bow are sitting in my garage just WAITING to hunt again.
I did bowhunt when I was in MN. I guess since I'm still a resident I could show up for deer season again without paying exorbitant amounts of fees. My first real bow was an old Browning with wood arms and a cast riser. It had crappy let-off but I got comfortable with it and was a pretty great shot with it even at some ridiculous ranges. I upgraded to a Jenning Buckmaster several years ago and like the single cam design. I can hold it drawn forever since the let-off is high and I was used to the Browning's heavy draw. I use a pretty simple pin sight still but finally upgraded to a release (yes, I was a finger shooter). I have a set of Beman ICS arrows custom done by Compound Doctor and some simple titanium broadheads. The Buckmaster doesn't seem to be as accurate at range as the old Browning but it's great for normal shots (sub-60 yards or so). I have an adjustable carbon stabilizer that also virtually eliminates noise from the bow. If you haven't done it already you have to go to Compound Doctor is they're still around. They were out in White Bear last I went. They have that video archery sim that's a lot of fun to shoot with a friend. You use your own bow and use the match weight blunts on your arrows to shoot at a backdrop with a video image projected on it of various game. After you both shoot it shows your FPS, where the arrow struck, and then scores your kill (or miss). Plus they're just friendly people working there that'll help you tweak your bow until it's a tack shooter. Aww, now I miss my bow
