Im trying to install a cat back exhaust system in my legacy GT 2005 but the midpipe isnt going onto the stock dp because of a lip that is on the stock dp. this seems to be the next big step to get over and its really irritating. if anyone could help that would be awesome.
i dont have pictures and dont have time really right now to do it but im putting a Gimmick Motorsports cat back on my legacy and im pretty sure the gap between the stock dp and cat back is supposed to be there?
i put that one on my lgt but i had a invid. dp im trying to think of the gap did u go with a 3inch? if so do u have the adaptor(do u need) so u can hook up a stock dp to a catback? where are u in the south meto ?
i dont have the adapter because i didnt think i would need it necessarily i have a 3 inch catback and i have a 3 inch cattless megan DP but im waiting to install that till i get a tune, i thought the catback would be a simple bolt onn
there is a lip that went into the stock catback, and for some reason the 3 inch wont fit all the way over it ( im not sure if it is supposed to or not) i just want this thing on
i do reme, ber with mine i found it easyer if i droped the dp off the hanger that was under the car and i had to do the top bolt first to get a good seal with no leaks
without pictures all I can think of is you might need this http://www.importimageracing.com/p/3-Inch-Downpipe-Adapter-02-09-WRx-STi.html but I don't have a legacy so I am not familiar with your setup at all
i found out that im dumb and the "lip" was a doughnut gasket so we just got some longer bolts, got it snug and put the rest on. no leaks sounds great. dp going on soon!
think itll matter if the catback wasnt set up for a doughnut gasket? it was set up for a flat gasket that it came with. i just figured it would be easier to use longer bolts to snug it up to the gasket then when i switch the downpipe just use the flat gasket on it
it will blow out the gaskets i went through 3 gaskets in about 3 months before i welded on a flat flange 2 my downpipe
