That belonged to a guy here in Rochester (twizted_rs).
It was well taken care of, but it looks to be a totally new car, now.

It was given a new paint job by twizted before he sold it. Looks like they repainted it again.
And there's the whole motor swap thing.

it's been pretty obvious through their various craigslist listings and such that they're not telling all.

    one word: Shady.

Haha yeah that car isn't a good one to look at. Looks beautiful from the outside right? Well my brother went to take it for a ride and some other people got there before him and they said they would be back in 5 minutes. He waited for 25 minutes till they came back running. I guess one of the hoses come off or something i'm not sure. Then i saw burtonboy there doing something with it i don't know but it looked like they got it started but who knows what will go wrong with it in the near future. My advice is look for another car and never go to Minnetonka imports.

I believe Minnetonka imports also has 2 right hand drive sti's as well. I saw the white one there this afternoon. I actually know one of the guys who had everything shipped here. well i know is daughter.. he was talking about the cars one night. based on everything i've heard about mtka imports i'd stay away. although it would be fun to have a RHD STI.

If you want a RHD Subaru, your best bet is to do it yourself before buying one from Minnetonka Imports. That place is a total chop shop. And everything I know about them says stay far away. You should have heard these clowns explain how they get illegal JDM cars in the states in one piece. Seriously, we really need a banner or something on here that says "Stay away from Minnetonka/Racewind Imports and World Motors Car (WMC) aka David LaValle"

Yep, and they have a couple of meth-heads over there trying to con people into buying these shady ass cars. I'm kinda surprised that they haven't been shut down at this point, selling illegally imported vehicles......Maybe someone should wonder across the street and let the cops know whats up......

OK, maybe "illegal" wasn't the best choice of words. These cars are grey market. They bring them in through states that have very relaxed standards for import cars. There is probably some things that they do that aren't exactly legal, but once they have the title from the state they imported them from, it's pretty much un-enforceable. Here's how they do it, they import the cars, likely from Canada, directly into a border state that has broad or lax "kit car" laws. Then register the car as a kit car or something like that. Then once they have a title for it, they can move it around without issue. These cars are obviously NOT kit cars, but since they've been titled, it's too late to get them on it. If the DOT really wanted to enforce it, they probably could, but calling the local PD on them isn't going to get you anywhere. Your best bet for these guys is to just avoid them, and tell your friends to avoid them. Eventually, word of mouth will drive them out of town.

A side story that is good for a laugh, these knuckleheads said they could import a 22B to the states. That car is banned in the US. To the point that Subaru of America was threatened with having theirs cut in half for having it here too long. The VIN on a real 22B is unregisterable in the US, and cannot be driven on public roads. But these idiots swore on the phone that they could get one here no problem. The only way you will get that car here is to illegally remove the VINs from the car....all the VINs. And replace them with VINs that can be registered. That is illegal. So, if you see them selling an honest to god 22B, which you wont, you can probably call them on that. But the likelyhood that half a dozen braindead 20 somethings will find one of the rarest Subarus out there, and have it shipped into MN without it being chopped in half by US Customs is slim to none. And if they do manage to get it on their lot, you can almost 100% guarantee that it isn't US road legal, or if it is, it was made so illegally.

Enjoy. 400 22Bs made. They have one that they can get. If you have 35k lying around, I would love to see you get this car delivered to your doorstep in one piece.

This will go on and on and on..

Those car's are illegal unless they were converted from a US chassis. The DOT, EPA or NHTSA can confiscate and crush those at will. The fact that they have been titled has no bearing or free pass on that.

The 22b can be imported just the same and have no problem. It's all about money..

I actually saw this car a few weeks ago while i was out riding. Took a look at it a few days later, dude was super shady and kept contradicting himself, even the girl i was with who knew nothing about cars caught on to it. They did have a white STi when i was there, kinda hidden down that hill they have away from the road, but the back end of it was bashed to bits, and i didnt specificaly look at if it was LHD or RHD, but i would have noticed if it was RHD hopefully the one that they have now isnt that one. i would advise pretty much anyone to stay away from the dealership.

They didn't ban it per-se, the chassis was never crash tested or made to conform to US safety and emissions standards. There aren't any cars with the same chassis in the US, therefore, it isn't importable.

They have a white RA coupe over there that they want 18k for, lol. They tried to off the shell on me for 5k a few months ago, as well as a 2000 STi Wagon shell for 7k. Just felt shady, so I hauled ass. I've found out some interesting info about that place I plan to take up with the applicable people.....
