You'd get good results posting your question there.

Are you looking for a Audi shop or are you a do-it-yourselfer?
    I've had a 97 A4 2.8 quattro for 4 years now.

I'm on there as stick as well.

    i just picked up a 1996 quattro A6
does anyone in here know how to change timing belt here? right now i'm leaking small amount of coolant and i know where it coming from. I could go to the audi dealership but it will cost me properly more. I'm pretty noob about audis so i that's why i kinda ask before i touch anything.

Either you know them well, or they make you want to punch yourself in the face. I'm the latter.

i got this car the right budget, I'm using this for a beater, who knows....maybe it might be my permanent vehicle. Once i sale my shadowz i'm pretty stick with this car. I got this car really cheap it only needs some few maintenances. I know few of here don't like audi but i think a car is a car...and also I want to know more about it....

Hope you have some money set aside for coils... You'll need them sooner or later...

Let me know if you need parts or service. I still have good friends at Carousel

I know erik...u have been done few things when my shadowz was in your shop....

well it starts out when this morning when i started my car and notice that my coolant level went low because the coolant signal went on.....so I went to a nearest SA Gas station( stupid moved ever) to get some coolant. It was 4 am btw. I bought it, pour into the coolant and ready to drive to work. My driving was pretty much the speed limit, once i exit off, i saw smoke coming out under the hood. I parked and open up the hood and coolant was all over the engine bay. I shut off the car immediatly and let it sit there til it cools down. After awhile I started the car again and the cooling signal went on and smoke continuing coming from the coolant tank....( I opened the cap).....that's my story

as my research that audi used some kinda special coolant, which i don't know of. Not the that cheap green liquids..http://www.blauparts.com/audi/audi_fluid/audi_coolant_engine_fluid.shtml#audiv6coolantchange

They only use the G11 and G12

Sounds like air in the system, hopefully that air was just from you trapping a bubble inside the cooling system, and not a blown HG.

I know they have this pink coolant they were available somewhere but i don't know where to get it locally....damn european vehicles...if it was the HG, won't the gauge climbing up? right now if i shut off the car i can hear the bubbling....
my prediction is that perhaps might be just a water pump failure

Sounds like you have air trap in that wrong coolant. You may want to drain and flush. And go to an Audi/VW dealer and buy coolant.

You can basically get evrything you need for an Audi at Metric Autoparts. Even the weird ****. And cheaper than the audi dealer.
    96 a6. that's the 12V 2.8L. It's a pretty reliable motor if you take care of it.

If not DIYing, i highly recommend Metric Auto Works in Woodbury.

I used to have a '95 A6 5 speed. Very reliable car, and had a lot of nice features for a '95. Kinda miss that car...
