This place isn't as active as before but not a ton of help on FB's MN Subiez group either. 2004 WRX wagon, my audio hasn't been working for quite some time now (a few years). At first I thought it was due to one of the plugs on the amp being stepped on and the prong being stuck in the amp (looks like a red RCA plug?). I was able to extract it out of the amp and replace the plug but still nothing, so now I'm lost. Previous owner installed speakers, amp, and a sub but kept the sub and left all wiring/hardware. I tried replacing the front right speaker a couple years ago but the wires seem to be a/m as well (or I'm clueless lol). The amp looks to be an old Alpine unit. The head unit is a Pioneer that still seems to work. It beeps when buttons are pressed and still reads discs and USB, just no audio from speakers. Now looking for help or a shop to just revert back to stock so I can reinstall things myself and have it be tidier and, at least, comprehensible.
Is there some historic drama I missed or don't know about? Got my FXT off there but otherwise am not on FB and am pretty new to this forum.
where are you located? Does the amp turn on? Any lights on it? Alpine usually has a green light on the side. Are the speakers hooked up to the amp? If so, you can use a AA battery and touch the speaker wire to the battery and see if each one makes a popping sound. So you would pull each pair of speaker wires off of the amp, then touch one wire to the positive side and the other wire to the negative side of the battery. Just a quick touch will make the speaker move and you should be able to hear that. That will test each speaker/wire set. You can also use another audio source to feed the amp to make sure that you are getting a good signal. If you have a 1/8" inch plug to rca plus, you could plug that from the amp input to any audio souce that can use a headphone jack.
I'm in Oakdale. I'll give it a try today or tomorrow. I'm not even 100% sure that the speakers are plugged directly into the amp. There are a couple wires plugged in but I'll try to test the amp with an aux-rca.
