What a retarded article -- totally aimed at invoking hype and fear into the average retarded American.

They are building yet another supercollider. There already is one in Illinios (but a lot "smaller"). Beware!!!

your talking about the one at fermin lab right? i have been there. its a pretty cool thing. i just love how they say that they estimate a very small chance of accidentally destroying the world.

Yup. There were plans to make something called a "super-colliding supercollider" (lol @ the name) back in the '80s that was going to be even larger than CERN (the one in France). But alas, us stupid americans voted it down.

Yeah, 10^-40 is a pretty small chance. I wonder how they came up with that probability?!? lol.

A large black hole might have a radioactive mass (temperature) of 60 nK.
it would absorb much more energy than it emits.
a ballanced black hole is thought to be arround the size of our moon. about 2.7nanokalvins.

a smaller one. (less than ~2.7nK) would emit more than they absorb. it would be unstable and dissipate.
hence the 'evaporative event horizon' dealio.
