Dang man, that is really nice. My folks had one of these built in their old place [I thought it was a waste of money at the time] but it really looked nice when it was done. Plus, it was very soothing and peaceful to hear the water running.
That's wonderful! It went from nothing to something in just a few scrolls down. Does the water recirculate? If so, some Koi or goldfish would add a nice touch to it.
looks great russ. I bet they did a lot of drain tiling to keep that soil from flushing away from the house. Theres a lot of work that goes into those projects that is hard for anyone other than the workers and homeowner to see. Let that company know they do some really good work.
Thanks alot guys/gals. Well, for how long it has taken, there is the first issue.:hsugh: It was supposed to be about 2 weeks, but the landscape guy has been dragging his feet. So basically this has been going on since about the first week of May. The pond stuff was fun. I actually got to help out and see how it all works. Those guys were great, andthe whole pond/stream was completed in 1 day. We had had some issues with the water fall and with keeping water in it, but it has gone pretty good. The pond guys have been great about getting back to us with questions and such. The water continually moves in the pond. There is a 3600 g/hr pump in the skimmer that pumps the water to the top of the bio falls. As for fish, not going to happen. The bigger koi ar $75 and up and we have a red tail hawk in the back yard. So unless someone want to spend the cash for a red tailed hawk to have a good meal, it won't happen. Might be one hell of a picture taking time tho. Hopefully the rest of the patio will we done this week so we can finish getting the flowers and such planted. The electrician will be here tomorrow to get out outlets up and running. Once that is done I can get some night shots of all the pond lights and such. Maybe once things cool down a bit for me, I will have a MNSubaru BBQ or something. Russ
We hope so. Anyone that has seen my back yard in the summer can tell you that it is a cliff. At about the lower wall, the ground level has already dropped 5-7 feet. That lower wall is less than 30 feet away from the house. So it drops off pretty quick. Forgot to add this in last time, here is the link to more pics. I have been documenting the whole build, so there is probably another 250+ pictures of the whole process in there. Even a funny for the eagle eyed folk. http://subiewrx.smugmug.com/Personal Russ
Nice work! Looks like the birds love it too. Did you use sand under the first layer brick to level it, or just the dirt?
Strap it with a rat trap or dynamite. JK. Wouldnt an plastic owl near the pond keep other birds away?
Very awesome, Russ! I bet all of that cost a pretty penny :hsugh: but I imagine it's well worth it in the end.
Very Nice , I am considering doing somthing similar. I like the pic with the birds next to the water!
For the wall, it was dug down about 1.5 course of brick, a layer of class 5, then the wall build up. For the pavers and such, it was the layer of class 5, a layer of sand, then the bricks. The red tail we have is about 30" tall with a good 4' wingspan. I think we would have to use some SERIOUS wire netting to keep him out. I think he kidnapped the neighbors cat a couple of weeks ago. Besides, we have racoons and such also that have climbed up the posts on the deck and cleaned out the bird feeder. So not only would the wire mesh have to be hawk proof, we would also have to try and outsmart the racoons. I will post up a pic or 2 tonight of what we are going to put in the pond once we are done. Russ
Amazing, I love it, where abouts do you live? those guys seem like they do good work. pm me there information if you get a chance.
I work here at www.eatmyfish.com Dave, the main man that does the fish farming sells Coy, he has some really nice ones, if your interested pm me. Richard D.
For those that keep saying koi, this is what is really going in the pond. and for the finished stuff. Couple of more little things and it will be all done. Russ
