I have read some reviews of the infinity basslink. From what i hear, for the money its a good package. My question is, is there anyone on here that has used this in their suby wit exhaust? I want to know if the exhaust will take away from the sub at all? Just want something to go bump for the summer. Any opinions help. Thanks everyone.

I've had a basslink before in a turboed car with loud exhaust. Wasn't a subaru, but the exhaust was still loud.
It's still a sub. The difference is, it's a smaller amp built in, but it still hits pretty good and can be heard over exhaust if that's what your concern is. This sub is made for a more mild system. Someone who wants bass, but not car rattling heard from a mile away bass. It sounds great in car. Doesn't make too much noise outside the car. So if you're looking for something that will make your car rattle and be heard, this isn't the sub for you.
Any more questions, just let me know. For the record, I had the phase 1 basslink with the built in 200w amp

Unless you have your heart set on having the amp and subwoofer self contained you would do yourself a favor if you just buy a JL 10" of whichever model sub fits your budget and put about 300 watts rms mono from any decent sub amp and you will achieve better sound with a similar foot print.

Well I'd have to respectfully disagree Zach. JBL is overpriced. Even for a non big box brand. Plenty of other competitive brands with cheaper prices. Just not big box...

Sound good? Yeah, of course. They are quality no doubt, I liked my W1s and W4s. Helluva lot better sounding than any Rockford Fosgate sub I had. They sounded like crap unless you want just trunk rattling bass...

But there is better bang for the buck if you know where to look. A nice Image Dynamics, RE, eD or countless others can be had cheaper that sound the same if not better than JL. All have great sound quality and not just trunk rattling bass.

Personally, I'd go with something other than that infinity.
But for a simple solution it is easier than a sub, box and amp...

I run a basslink in 88 Camaro Convert. With the top down and the sub buried in the bowels of the trunk the sound is still decent.

It dosn't have to be a JL, I've just used a bunch of them. I am using a 10w3 right now. I am a little curious how moving to larger vendors will effect quality. Regardless of what brand you use I believe a quality sub in a sealed enclosure will sound better than an infinity bass link, not to mention it will look better and be more durable, as well as having the components all independantly replaceble. Not to mention I always think of speakers in plastic enclosures as just "cheaper", kinda like an AIWA home stereo.

basically i am just looking to be heard in the car. I really dont care if other people can hear it. I am not looking to take up my whole trunk. So i am only looking for one sub. I was looking at the basslink because it compact and from what i have read sounds good for what it is. Also would the extra 50 amp worth it for the basslink 2? Or what would be a good sub/amp combo for about 250-300? Like i said, I just want one sub. I listen to hip-hop. 10-inch? 12-inch? Dont know much about speakers.

Just buy a basslink if you want good sound just in the car. You can hook it up to an aftermarket deck or to the stock deck. Don't worry about buying a sub and amp, it will cost you more than you need to spend. Google "cheapest price on a basslink." Some places are pretty cheap. I got mine new for 240 shipped back in the day for the phase 1 with the 200 watt amp.
