Got Eibach ProKit springs a few weeks ago, ScubaSteve helped with the install (i.e. he did all the work except for taking two of the wheels off...). Finally washed the car for an after shot... lighting is a little different in the shots, but you get the idea. Drop is approximately 1.2 inches all around. I like. :hsugh: EDIT: Profile shots have been posted. Sorry the before shot isn't quite a perfect profile. Obviously now I can't very easily take another before shot. first BEFORE: ...and AFTER: BEFORE profile: AFTER profile:
Prokits are a great spring for a daily-driver car. Moderate drop with improved handling yet a comfortable ride. I just installed a set on my friends Evo and he loves them. These are what my fiancee's '07 WRX will be getting within the next month or two since SPT didn't make springs for the '04-07 for some reason.
Congrats on the suspension upgrade bro! And thanks for allowing me to work on your car, I'm glad your happy!
Springs = about the sexiest mod on a WRX. Looks good. Now you just need some wheels to fill up those wheel wells .
Yup. Definitely plan to take it to Jeff the Alignment guy. Took it to Tires Plus and they told me they couldn't adjust the camber (the front IS adjustable with the stock bolts...) but they did straighten out the toe nicely. I got my rear camber bolts in the mail yesterday and plan to install them at some point. Profile shots posted. Agreed. Mostly... although on a professional musicians' income I'm strongly considering staying with the stock 16's. They're actually pretty light as wheels go (16.5lbs each) and keeping them at 16 vs. 17 means the rotational mass stays a little lower, too. After doing some research I've concluded that I would need to spend upwards of $1000 on the wheels alone to actually get an upgrade in performance as well as aesthetics. ...UNLESS I give up my free time completely and watch NASIOC's for sale section like a hawk for 2 months.
Awesome! I didn't know such a thing existed... will I notice a big difference between the HDPE pieces & the aluminum? http://www.camotoy.com/products/saggybutt/index.php
i think i may go with these springs as well , it looks great , have you had to put in the saggy butt spacers in the rear?
I bought them about a month after I installed the springs but never installed them. Sold them to Chet. Occasionally it looks like it needs 'em, but most of the time the distribution looks pretty good, especially since the front wheel well is bigger anyway (which creates the illusion that the front is higher).
Hmmm... maybe I should toss them in after all? Idunno I'm on the fence. It's cheaper to just stay with what I've got. :-D By the way, thanks to 054eatwagon for resurrecting my thread. Last post before yesterday was August '08.
Here's what she looks like now. No additional springs or spacers, just some 6 months or so for settling:
let me see if i understand this: first you lower the car with springs then you put in a body lift spacer to raise the back up higher? is it a looks thing or handling? seems counter productive to me.
search ftw......... i have also been thinking of the epic eng. springs (1" iirc) , but these would be more in my budget for my wifes sake , how do they ride , i have had 2 lowered cars and they were both fine , is it just a little stiffer? like the section of 494 (east side of metro) right after 94 heading south ....does it suck or are they ok , thanks
These springs are great. I love 'em! :yumyum: Just slightly stiffer than stock, but that's what you need if the total travel is reduced. I think I know the section of 494 you're talking about, and I guess if I could change anything I would go with slightly more damping from the struts, actually. The springs are fine, but at 70mph on 494 it starts to resonate a little from the regularly spaced seams in the road. I always start to wonder if my struts are dying, and then I get onto Baker road or something and they're fine....
another car with eibach and 3/8 spacers,17" wheels and 45 series rubber , looks like i will be getting these springs , thanks for your input jamusix from nasioc , sorry to hijack , just wanted to show more pics for others interested in this setup http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h15/m3trooper/2005 WRX Wagon/IMGP1994.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h15/m3trooper/2005 WRX Wagon/IMGP2032.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h15/m3trooper/2005 WRX Wagon/IMGP2030.jpg http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h15/m3trooper/2005 WRX Wagon/IMGP2039.jpg
