I was searching around and some tire dealers say they'll have them in but I'm also finding in other places that the tire is being discontinued. Has anyone heard anything on this?
Hmm, I hadn't heard that, hopefully that means they'll start selling the Revo2's here this year. http://www.bridgestone.co.jp/tire/stl/revo2/
I've had both. Winterforce are better for snow, but the revos rule on ice. I'm more worried about being able to stop and turn on ice than be able to get through deep snow. In the cities things get plowed fast but the intersections can stay icy for a long time.
Yeah, deep snow around here isn't an issue. ice, black ice, slush and dry are. OT, Revos are end of life. People that do have them are selling them dirt cheap. The replacement is the WS-60. http://www.bridgestone-firestone.com/news/news_index.asp?id=2007/070119a
Weird the Revo1 was a hot tire. I remember riding in Zaks yellow car with those and was totally amazed (partial reason i bought snow tires). There was talk about a nokian GB again this year. just another possibility.
I always had no worries in the few times we had heavy snow let alone ice driving on 4 Rev01's. I'm not sure about it's replacement. I have seen them offered here and there but they don't really appeal to me. I'm sure they work but the tread pattern on the WS-60's doesn't seem very aggressive.
From just looking at the tread pattern it looks like the ws-60 will handle slush and water much better.
I'll agree to that but with the WS60's I'll miss the 'throwing water in your windshield' effect the Rev01's have. They've worked well in the past for getting tailgator's to back off.
