I am working on a friend of mines car and when you go into boost it dosnt stay spooled consistantly it spools then stops a sec then spools ? is he running to high of boost for the stock turbo? Or what?

it is a stock wrx with a perrin manual boost controller and and cold air intake and he is running a utec thats it!
1st guess is overboost. Do you know what psi it is running up to before it drops?? I HIGHLY doubt you need to spend $100 for a part. I would say that with the MBC and utec, you didn't make the correct changes to allow more than 20psi. Russ
Is this on a boost gauge, or the utec?? The utec has boost cut at 20psi. I have seen 3-4psi differences between gauges and utec/ecu. Russ
It's probably the controller. One of the members here had the perrin mbc, kept having boost issues. Swapped and went with a bcs and everything was fine.
