As some of you out there might have seen this car on craiglist: http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/dak/cto/1345191102.html I got the guy to call me. he was pretty honest in his "i can't describe this car, you just need to see it." opinion. Drove to prior lake on thursday with truck and trailer. Found this: wow is all I could say. who ever did the pbody work.....yikes. none of the colors match, most of the body lines are terrible. I'm pretty sure the rear bumper and tails are not the right model year. But the interior is nice, the driveline has decent miles, and an extra longblock is cool. I brought 4k with me, made my offer, got a counter offer, made it clear that I was not actually bargaining. Got the "i can't go that low" so i started to leave. Turns out having your kids bad investment out of your 600k homes driveway is worth more than pride. A sentiment I can understand. So onto the trailer it went. I imagine a part out will happen. But if I can get that coupe shell that just came up, maybe I'll swap it. who knows. Anyone need parts? lol. but seriously don't make offers yet.
I espesically like the welds on the radiator support replacement. I don't think any shielding gas was actually used.
That's a wagon rear bumper, I believe... Also, lol @ "Turns out having your kids bad investment out of your 600k homes driveway is worth more than pride."
Ok first off: Thank you for all the "head-up" from you guys by PM, but I should have been more clear. I took 4k down there for the best case scenario. I left with enough change to buy another impreza tomorrow. So please don't think I got taken to the cleaners. I told the guy straight out: "I will not pay more than $1000 dollars less than I can make in a really quick part out." secondly: we determined today that the rear bumper is a wagon bumper. cut to fit . . .poorly. I noticed in prior lake that the fron frame rails are off by about ~1inch. So unless I can get a front end really cheap from somewhere, I won't even think about repairing. This means I'll pull the driveline, maybe fix, maybe build the new longblock off the old and sell someone an all inclusive driveline/interior swap. otherwise, hood and trunk are fiberglass and kinda cheap, but fitment is good. passenger side doors are in decent shape, heads/tails are good, BPM turboback exhaust, fenders are the flared sedan and decent, but with crappy paint. all the glass is good. I'll do alright in this one. Lastly: whats a Sambar?
where was that? i went 13 -> 169 -> 494 ->94 ->a ****ty applebees where everyone looked at me like I was some serial killer because I was dirty (from looking under/pushing the car) and ordered and ate by myself before leaving->moorhead. I saw lots of modded subaru's, but I don't really know any of you by sight.....I did see a porshe turbo something being pulled by a denali that made me feel less like a man though.
colin, you're a friggin huge dude, they were not looking at you because they thought you were a serial killer, they probably were thinking "oh ****, i don't wanna mess with this dude at all because he'll kick my ****in ass!"
I wonder how that car came to be in the first place. It looks like it was spawned by the rejects of my old shop class. Was it really in the driveway of a $600k home?
Yes, it was sitting in the driveway of a house on top of a hill on 3 acres with a small vineyard on the back plot. house was maybe 6 bedroom, 3 stall garage with heated pole garage/barn with enough space for two shops, 4 sleds, a 37 ford or something and an MG. All in scenic prior lake. Driveway was 1/4 mile so the house was set back... pretty nice. Mostly expensive for the location I would imagine.
my thoughts exactly. and since i work in pretty much a cash only way, and have truck and trailer and space to store cars and parts. I will continue this. Now someone buy my latest for sale.
