    Hi,
I have a 02 wrx with 06 4 pot up front and stock in rear. My problem is that my brakes pedal is very spongy after I change the brake pads and rotors. I bleeded the brakes and I got no brake fluid coming out from the R.F and L.R caliper only air pressure. Was wondering if my master cylinder is goin out or is it bad. And i bleed from R.F, L.R, L.F, and R.R.

Well, as you are bleeding the corners where air comes out, does the fluid in the MC drop?? The fluid needs to go someplace and if it is only 2 corners that are not working, I would start with those corners. How many times did you bleed each corner?? What are you doing to bleed each corner (pump the brake pedal, suction style, etc)??

About 5 times on those 2 corner.Air come out but after after the 3-4 pumps theres no air. The brake fluid does not drop in the MC.

Are you closing the fitting at the caliper, or at least holding a finger over the fitting each time you let up the pedal to create a vacuum on the line? There are a couple of other ways that you could be bleeding: with a tube and check valve, with a tube with the opposite end submerged in brake fluid. In either of these cases I sometimes seem to have a problem drawing fluid in the line so I will close the fitting when letting the pedal up.

Yeah I closed the bleeder valve before pumping the brakes and open on the
3rd time while pedel is hold down.

are you putting a hose on the bleeder valve with the other end in a bottle filled with brake fluid? and sometimes it takes more than five times to get desired results. And if after your first rotation, if it doesn't fix the problem you have to do another rotation.
ill add more info, you are pumping brakes 3x then hold down, and open bleeder with said hose on it.
it should pull brake fluid into the bottle at that point (it didn't the first time i did) close bleeder valve and release pedal slowly.
repeat until only brake fluid comes out.
move to next brake in sequence, and repeat.

I haven't heard of this method, and I can't think of what the benefit of pumping three times would be? I would advise that you.

    1. Push the pedal down
    2. release fitting at the caliper
    3. wait for all pressure to dissapate at caliper
    4. close fitting at caliper
    5. release pedal
    6. repeat steps 1 through 6 while making sure the master is full of fluid

If none of that works, try bleeding/priming the master cylinder.

usually if I were looking to bleed the MC I would

    1. put a rag below the MC to catch fluid
    2. push pedal to floor
    3. loosen the brake line fittings attached to the MC (I would pick one and do that fitting untill I got clear fluid)
    4. tighten the fitting up
    5. Allow pedal to return to it's top positon
    6. repeat for all brake line fittings to the MC while making sure to keep fluid in MC

as a side note, make sure if you are using a helper, that the helper is pressing the correct pedal. I was trying to bleed my Miata clutch this spring and it took about 10 minutes longer because she was pressing the brake pedal. Of course I had to get her to press the right pedal for the process to work at all!

my guide is from a 96
    1. Disconnect left front wheel brake line from master cylinder.
    2. depress brake pedal slowly once and hold. (with assistants help)
    3. seal port of master cylinder where line was disconnected with a finger.
    4. Release pedal slowly
    5. Release finger when pedal fully returns.
    6. reconnect brake line.
    7. Depress brake pedal again, and hold
    8. loosen left front line at master cylinder.
    9. re tighten line, then release pedal.
    repeat for each line disconnected.

Is the pedal getting hard when you press it down (before you crack open the bleeder screw)?? If the pedal is getting hard, you are building pressure and it is just a matter of getting the air out of the lines. If the pedal is staying soft, then you need to get the MC primed.

did u get any fluid to come out of the lines on the mc.
did the brake fluid bubble when pushing or releasing the brake pedle.

Try priming both top and side lines simultaneously. Remove both lines, depress brake pedal slowly, plug both ports with your fingers, slowly release brake pedal, repeat and rinse. If you still don't get pressure out the line on the side, try releasing the brake pedal very fast (with your hand). If you can't get the MC to prime correctly, then you probably have debris jammed in the MC.
