On the drivers side of my car either the front or rear brake is squealing. I can't tell which one it is yet, I just got home. What happend was when I got into my neighborhood the brakes started to make a screeching noise. I don't know what is causing it but I was thinking that since our neighborhood just got new gravel on the roads that maybe a little piece of gravel had gotten in between my brake pad and caliper. Is that possible? So far that's my best guess but I want to diagnose the problem by figuring out which wheel it is and what the problem is. What are common reasons that brakes squeal though?
If your pads are low enough the squeaker could be contacting the rotor telling you that you need new pads. Or a rock, I've had that happen as well.
ya i would probably look at your pads make sure they are thick enough and then pull the pads and check around in there see if anything is out of the ordinary
Bingo! I figured out that it was my front wheel closest to the driver. I jacked it up today and I just pushed the dust shield back a bit and out comes a small gravel rock. Thanks for the help.
