Well, I need rotors and I do not want to just put stockers on. I need something that fits under a stock 16 inch rim on my 02 WRX. I am thinking chryo treated and slotted. Any suggestions? I do plan on doing the H6 conversion in the rear as well, any info on that would be great too. Thanks in advance everyone.... Bill
I've been lusting after the Racing Brake stuff for a while now. www.racingbrake.com Heat treated blanks instead of cryo treating, does the same job from the opposite end. They even have an H6 kit that includes their rotors that fit and the necessary brackets. When I was talking to them earlier in the year, they were making noises about having a 310mm front rotor, that would be the biggest rotor that would fit under the stock WRX rims. It would only leave about 1/8" of gap for wheel weights, though. I don't know if they ever did produce these or not, as I moved onto other things and lost interest in what I couldn't have for a while. Stuart.
www.frozenrotors.com local company and we get a discount. You can source an upgrade on rotors and upgrade to hawk pads as well. If you can swing it put some stainless steal braided brake lines on. I believe jscspeed has them for 90 shipped right now, normally about 120-130.
Talk to Mark Link at Frozen Rotors. Just tell him you are part of mnsubaru and you will get our discount. It might not be as big of a discount as when I do the brake gb, but he will still cut ya a deal. If you can wait a couple of more months I am going to do another buy in the spring (Feb/March). Oh ya, Mark can also get some ss lines, but I am not sure on the pricing. Russ
I just installed a set of frozen rotors, hawk pads, and braided lines for WRXEcho. Might want to check with him for feedback.
I have the rotors and pads, I like em they do seem to stop much better, they are a tad dirtier than stock pad, but whatever, I'll still take the hawk pads anyday. Frozen rotos is the way to go, nice shop, nice guys and very good prices. Heck you can pick them up in bursville save youself the shipping. I do need the brake lines and h6 upgrade, Hopefully I'll do those in spring.
I love the new brakes i got. PowerSlot Slotted & Cryo'd Rotors(Cryo'd by frozenrotors), Hawk HPS Pads and Goodridge Stainless Steel Lines. My lord is it a difference over stock. The setup has a really nice feel to it. No more spongy feeling thanks to the steel lines. I havent really tested the limit of the brakes yet, but since i put them on, I feel a lot more in control and safer. It's a nice combo. Thanks again Matt
RacingBrake ftw All I can say is I love them compared to my stock single piston crapness. Ask Jeremy(Deride) or Kyle(StatGSR) how they stop. They are, by far, the best deal on upgraded brakes, considering an AP Racing kit that fits under 16's will run you about $2500.
What rear rotors do I need to do the H6 conversion? I am thinking of going with frozen rotors, will they know what I am talking about?
You will need the h6 rear rotor (Mark will know), and then you need to go to the dealership to pick up the new rear caliper brackets. From there it is just a matter of swapping out the caliper bracket and removing the dirt shield for the rear rotor. Pretty easy swap. Russ
