Need some advice here. I'm not sure when this happened, but came back from the store today about 4pm and noticed this on the passenger side door handle. Pretty messed up that they tried to pry it off and get in, but I don't have anything of value visible, except my son's car seat. lol
Is this even worth making a report with the cops, or even with my insurance to get fixed? Obviously the alarm never went off because they didn't hit anything to make the alarm go off.
    Help!

I would report it to the police for sure. As for insurance, that would depend on how much your deduct is.

might be worth PDR to straighten out the sheetmetal and some touchup paint to keep it from rusting.

As for the report and claim entirely your call depending on where and when you think it might have happened and you insurance policy. If they catch/caught the suspect it is one more thing for the to add to their list against them. As for the insurance all depends on what your policy coverages/limits are.

my deduct is $500, i'm not really worried about that. Just suck cuz I just had my car backed into this year also. So within a year i'll be making two claims. I'll more than likely now make a claim with my insurance since I don't want it to rust this winter if I decide not to fix it. It seems as tho they were either spooked and took off or couldn't get in and left it alone. Makes me worried they might come back tonight to finish the job.
    Guess i'll see tomorrow morning.

I would honestly pay out of pocket for that. Shouldn't be terribly expensive vs. the rate increase of your insurance.
