So, I know I'm not only one breaking in a new boxer, in a BRZ. Where's everybody else at?

I went for my first cruise with the headlights on tonight, now just over 400 miles. Do you have any idea how hard it is to keep this thing below 4k/rpm!?!?!

Very Nice! Great to see these showing up on here. I know what you mean by the 4k rpm part. Just got my WRX past break in a couple weeks ago.

Hit up Grimmspeed if you haven't already. They've had at least one BRZ mini-meet.

I can't blame you really, it's so much fun to drive. I might be able to make it a little worse though. This is my winter beater :p . . .at least, for now.I really don't want to part with the bugeye but if one of them has to go, the BRZ will see snow.

Thanks a lot for all the warm welcomes! I really hope to have this car out to play as often as possible. I'd love to hear news from any of the other BRZ's out there too.

Had an interesting issue on day 1. Drove for about 200 miles and shut it down for a few minutes. When I started back up it threw a CEL. Checked the fluids and other basics, it was running fine, drove it back to Morrie's too late to catch a tech to pull the codes. Luckily Threshld1 has a reader and is very observant. He pulled the codes and realized they were on the same circuit, then found a loose clip on a wiring harness, the thing was just hanging there. He clipped the wonky connecter back in. The next afternoon, on the way out to Morrie's again (we didn't clear the codes) the CEL went out. I'm sure it was the clip. I think it will happen again too if I don't zip-tie it in. It would be nice to see somebody else's and see if I just got a wonky clip or if this is something I should take up with Subaru before it does any damage to any of these lovely cars.

Indeed, I doubt there is anything actually wrong with the sensors when it throws a o2 sensor bank 1 no input and a cam position bank 1 circuit open. I'm just surprised it didn't throw more codes since the clip was at the main engine harness connectors.

I've gotta see one of these up close in person. It's a beautiful machine. However some have said to wait until the 2nd year of release on new models to give Subaru a year to work out all the bugs. Hopefully the loose connector was the only thing wrong with it.

I've always said that too. Yet, i own one of the first run bugeyes. lol. And we all know the many issues that they had/have. From 03-07 there wasn't much to worry about since the only real thing to change on the Impreza's was the looks. But 08 was a different story.

You definitely need to bring the BRZ to Calhoun one Tuesday night! And stop by GrimmSpeed and ask them about the BRZ mini meets there.;) And i'm pretty sure you are still the only BRZ owner on the forum here, so it may be awhile before we see more OMGRWD's in this thread.

    Hey, I was first! :p

There are a small number of us but it's starting to grow. Saw a SWP Limited at MAP/BIR this weekend as well as a charcoal FRS.

Nice Color choice by the way. :D

There were 2 of us wearing SWP, mines a primo with a spoiler. I had about 750 miles when I got there and I know there is no freaking way I could have gone out on the track and not properly flogged it so I elected to watch. I heard the other one was making laps though and the guy in the black FR-S said the BRZ was getting 110 down the straight. I rolled over 1000 miles this afternoon and did properly celebrate the occasion with a third gear pull. I made just over 90 in 5th before I caught the traffic in front of me and felt obligated to let off and behave.

    What's this Tuesday night bit?

I also own an '02 bugeye wagon. I ain't afraid o' no first run Subaru.

Ohhh ok so that was your car that I saw parked near the end of the drag strip with the Morries plates. I didn't check it out closely so I wasn't sure if I was a Primo or a Limited. Nice!

Yeah that was me lapping the road course in the other SWP. I've had mine since the 1st so I already had it broken in for almost two weeks now. And yeah on the fastest parts of the track I could squeak out to about 107/108 in 5th.

Yep, that was me. I had to stay away from the car all day or I would have stolen a helmet and chased you around the track! Next time. It's good to hear you were out there gettin' it. How did it feel on the track? What were your lap times like? Planning on any other events in the near future?

It felt great! All my previous experience on the track is with my old G35 and this car feels so much more stable and reacts to input much faster and more predictably. Once I got used to it and started to get more aggressive, I felt like I could throw it around without any drama. Just point and go and it would stick. The stock tires also had a surprising bit of grip and held up much better than I expected. Heal/toeing is also much easier in this car with the pedal placement.

I wasn't running with the RFID tag for the timing system but from watching the gopro video of my last session, my best laps were in the 2:04 range. Now that I am comfy with the limits of the car, I feel like I could knock that down a bit more.

I hope to get back up to BIR this year for a track school day and possibly another open lapping day. I took the track school day last year and learned a ton so I'd like to go through it again and keep improving. Other than that I would like to get it out to a few autocross events in the area.

    Tubro BRZ - Story

First Turbocharged Subaru BRZ Boosted To 278 Horsepower

Toledo, Ohio's Accelerated Performance created a stir last month with the firstturbocharged BRZ. When they popped up on the North American Subaru Impreza Owners Club forum last month, John Visconti had squeezed 54.5 extra horsepower out of the Subaru BRZ's stock 2-liter engine.

He's since upped the ante, raising the boost from 4 to 10 psi and jacking the power output to 278 whp. That's 117 hp over the stock 161 whp out put. Not too shabby.

On the forum, Visconti said the kit — Accelerated performance's BRZ-300 turbo setup — costs about $5,000. He also told forum commenters that A.P. is working on making bigger turbos work as well.

Using new EcuTek RaceRom software for the BRZ/FRS and an Omni 4 Bar MAP Sensor in conjunction with A.P.'s BRZ-300 turbo kit, Visconti clocked the custom BRZ's power output at 278 whp at 7,200 rpm. The car cranked 215 lb-ft of torque at 5,500 rpm; a 79 lb-ft boost over stock numbers.

Visconti told us peak horsepower was 286 on one run, but they "weren't looking for peak numbers — just reliability"

It sounds like he's still fiddling with it, but Accelerated Performance seems to be on the right track toward turning the BRZ into the nasty turbo street fighter Subaru's repeatedly said they're not going to build.

Glad to hear our ranks are growing!!

Anybody done anything fun with the car yet? I got my first hand waxing in last weekend and swapped out the splash screen on the GPS unit. I'm starting to see some good looking tunes show up from the ECUTek crowd and I've been eye-balling the K&N drop in . I'm exercising immense discipline. I go for a first oil change on Monday but I'm totally jonesing for more hp , it's going to be very hard to wait for "appropriate mileage" before I start looking for bolt ons and such.

Haha, I have gotten it washed about 3 times since I've had it...and I need to get the oil changed soon since I am now over my 1000 miles...but I definitely want to add some more HP!
