So this is my first ever car with a functional hood scoop. The bugs are so bad up here right now, and i just hate driving at night and watching a big moth or something get sucked right up in there. Looked under the hood today and spent a good half our picking bugs out. I'm wondering if there is any type of screen or mesh or something made to prevent the bugs from getting under the hood..? Anyone have something like that or is it basically something a person just has to put up with?

I've seen them online for sale, but don't remember the site off hand. Do some web searches and you'll find something.

My cheap (free) diy solution was to sandwich some mesh from an old screen door in between the splitter and the rubber bellows. A lot of people also make their own screens that go in the scoop; supported by the little vertical posts in the scoop opening.

Don't bother wasting 20 dollars for one online. Just make your own from some steel mesh and just use it at night when the bugs are plentiful. :)

Menards galvanized rain gutter cover.... it was $3.00 a sheet when I did mine. Cuts the bugs up into little pieces and most just fall out then. After a while I got them powder coated black.

+1 I used chicken wire fencing. Mostly because I hated all those dents in the fins.

The problem around here is rocks. Lots of truck hauling dirt loads uncovered. Does not matter how far back you follow any vehicle around here. Rocks all over the roads. I do not have the condenser protected and it is covered in dents. Intercooler used to be the same way before the screens.
