Burning oil?

    I checked my oil this morning while it was cold and I am about 1 qt low after about 1000 miles is this normal?

    What could it be. I smell some burning oil occasionally just never see it on the garage floor

    Well first off I'd say read the forum rules. You should let us know what car miles, mods and any other info you feel might help diagnose the problem. I'd say you may want to get a compression test done.

    *what mileage
    *what mods
    *what year
    *what oil

    2004 Wrx turbo xs downpipe cobb catback nuke tuned. Nuke said he checked the compression and was all good there.

    Just checked after I got home the oil is sitting halfway between dot from dot on the stick

    Give it a good 5-10 minutes before you check it. Sometimes it takes a bit to drain back to the pan. Also, some say it helps to take off the oil filler cap to help vent the crank case.

    any excessive amounts of smoke when you pull away from stop lights or leave the car idle for awhile?

    How many miles on the car. Could be blow by but seems a bit excessive.

    Have you checked your intercooler/Throttle body for oil?

    Not yet. I noticed some oil on the Lower heat shield

    That could be possibly a leaky oil return line on the turbo.

    I do smell burning oil. But I just installed a new turbo maybe valve cover?

    Valve cover leaks generally dont smoke. They generally drip straight to the ground.
