ok woke up this morning and went to go workout and decided that i was going to put my snow tires on after i was done working out. Well i didnt even make it a block while trying to make a sharp turn doing 15mph and went sideways into a turn. And now my front driver side tire is pushed in to my fender. I drove it home and took off the wheel and i believe it might be a bent control arm. But i was wondering if someone could come over to take a look at it who knows more to help look at the damage so what i need to replace. I NEED my car tomorrow so if someone can help ASAP that would be much appreciated. I am located at 494 & 394
I kinda of find it hard to believe that you bent a control arm going 15mph, but I suppose that it is possible. I am going to guess that it could be a broken lower ball joint, whivh is what connects the strut/knuckle assembly to the control arm. Should be able to tell with pictures.
ouch......maybe control arm...but im wondering if the lower ball joint went out causing the control arm to break?!?!??!
i looked at the lower ball joint and it seemed fine. It looks normal to me. the only thing i can see is the crinkle in the control arm that i show. Any other opinions
yeah but by lookin you can't tell lol....you have you jack up on the control arm a little bit to get the tire off the ground and wiggle the tire for play.......but im thinking you just need a new control arm.....did you hit a bump or anything?!??!
lol ok, i will go out and try. I hit a curb wit the front tire at an angle, drove ten feet and noticed rubbing. got out and checked, had a few choice words with my self. Then drove back home (only like a block away)
just went out and jacked the car up a lil and there is no play in the wheel. So does that mean the lower ball joint is fine?
doh, yeah i slide into a curb going about 15 mph. I thought i put it into my original post...my bad. So my next question, does anyone have a spare control arm. I think my uncle might have one in his shop, but he is out hunting this weekend.
