I have a pioneer deh-p4900 cd player in my car. I have an ipod cable that allows my deck to control the ipod. Well I went from using a 3rd gen nano to a 4th gen ipod nano. everything but the charging feture works with the new ipod. I talked to best buy they said to buy a scosche passPORT and that should fix the problem It did not fix the problem so I emails scoshe and they said they have compatability issues with that adapter and pioneers. Does anyone know if they have a new cable that works with the 4th gen ipod nano? otherwise does anyone know the fix for this, because it is very irritating that my new ipod does not charge in my car.
the newer ipods negotiate the higher voltage throughput on the ipod connector. i'd look into buying a new cable that's compatible with newer ipods so basically you might be powering your ipod, but just not charging it
CD-RW and toss on the same mp3s. If it's a compatibility issue, it's tough to say when and if the problem will ever be fixed. If you want mp3s played via the HU, you always can burn a CD with the mp3s on it. Use a CD-RW, and you can erase and reburn new sets of songs at will. I'd also suggest USB thumb drives, but Pioneer is slow to accept them.
Some generations of ipods use resistors on the usb data lines to go into charge mode while some don't. Why apple didn't just make every ipod charge if there is power is one of the many reasons I hate Apple and their way of doing things. Here's more info if you go to pin 27. http://pinouts.ru/PortableDevices/ipod_pinout.shtml
That had ZERO relevant information as to his problem with his iPod adaptor and question. Thanks tho. Bill, some of the newer iPods use a 5v or a 12v charging, versus the opposite. Basically, Apple stopped backwards compatability on the newer models. They're stupid, and the only way around it is to get a newer adaptor unfortunately. Pioneer might not make them yet. We've had a similar problem with your Lexus iPod interfaces and not charging some of the newer iPods.
