hey would the O2 sensor from my cats being not plugged in cause this? and if anyone local can come take a look at it and give me some ideas it would be cool. i live in chaska and i know there are a lot of you guys around me. btw its an 98 rs. just happened about 30 minutes ago.
could, I will be out of the shop with lawyers form around 11am till ???? diagnostics isnt my strong point...
well, tomorrow i'm gonna be taking out my plugs and see what they look like. but it feels and smells like i'm burning rich and i'm just not idling right.
i would say disconnect the battery over night, then reconnect it and let it run for atleast 10 minutes tomorrow... see if that helps at all maybe first
yes an unpluged O2 sensor or bad O2 sensor can cause a rough/bad idle. With the ecu not seeing what the O2 sensor is reading it assumes it is running lean (safe programing) and aggressively over richens the mixture fouling plugs and washing out rings if it is real bad. This is why stand alone engine managment systems with out a O2 sensor should be tuned on a dyno with a way of measuring air fuel ratio. A bad/unpluged O2 sensor will also result in about 20% less mileage.
go to Napa or a parts place and get the 02 bungs... weld them in then screw the 02's in... I wont be at the shop saturday....
