Well i just put my cf trunk on and the springs for my trunk are so stiff that it launches up when you pop the trunk off. so my friend who has an evo took his out before and told me he could take mine out. he got them out and one off them nailed him in the head and there was blood everywhere. anyways, the springs were so stiff that while the trunk was on there, it bent it upwards slightly and its not fitting now. I heard that you can very carefully take a heat gun to it and slowly bend it back. anyone done this?
are you using the sti's spring? if so, that's a no-no I think wrx/wingless springs are what you're suppose to use.
On my c/f hood pins, the nrg circle ones. shane from tintmasters said he heated in to bend them to fit the contours on the hood. but I believe he said he didn't go too far to avoid it from cracking. I might be wrong so don't pin it on me if you crack your trunk but it sounds plausible.
well i didnt really have any of those at my disposal. its not like i put in sti springs for the cf trunk:laugh: . i just had the trunk on there for a few days and was planning on taking them off on the weekend. i just never really thought that it would bend the trunk
wow the spring got him good! i dont see why heating it alittle would hurt. it did bend originally so there must be a way to bend it back. becareful though if you bend that 1 spot too much it may weaken it.
i would but i am trying to keep as many of the stock parts/components fr the car so if/when i sell it, i will return it back to completely stock and part everything else out.
