How the hell do you get the caliper bracket off? The bolts have made it impossible to get them off, how do you get them off without power tools or such? Is there any trick to it? Thanks guys
I guess I've never had a problem getting those bolts loose on a subaru. I use a 1/2" socket on a breaker bar or a closed end wrench with a cheater bar and they come loose easily. I don't know if you can fit an impact wrench in there, you can try hitting on the breaker bar while putting torque on it. They could be corroded too, try soaking them with some penetrating oil for a while. And, I almost hate to say it so please don't be offended, make sure you're really trying to loosen them, since the bolt is facing away from you it can be easy to try turning them the wrong way sometimes.
well i wouldnt be surprised at all if id been turning them the wrong way haha but ill let you guys know later thanks for the help
I broke a bolt off on my old 02 when I put the 4 pots on. I ended up drilling the bolt out of the caliper later on. In the process, I purchased all new bolts and used anti-seize.
I broke a bolt on my rear brackets the first time i changed my rotors. I agree, soak them in pb blaster.
I broke a bolt off on the STi....cost a lot to get the bolt removed! Although, I have not had any issues on the RS.
^ Yeah the STi Brembos can get ugly after a couple winters. I'm still baffled as to why they decided to thread the aluminum itself, instead of using a steel insert like the "Subaru" calipers.
well they pretty much gave him all the tricks... if he hasnt fixed it by now... then he is welcome to take a trip to my place and I will take them off..
