Clunk??

    Have a 05 sti and I have a strange clunking noise under my car and it only happens once and a while and usually when i go over a bump. Any ideas??

    struts...rear struts---as common as a cold. I had them go out on mine too. starts out random, then it gets worse as time goes on. 05 STi too..

    noticed mine particularly at low speeds and over bumps like speed bumps. dealership tried to avoid warranty repair at first by telling me it was my exhaust hangers being too small for the SPT exhaust, and it was hitting bottom, but finally they agreed it was struts. does your car seem extra bouncy in the rear on the freeway over bumpy sections too? almost like you have race suspension...

    I have cobb springs but I dont think its that. It sounds like its right by my feet when I drive. Like in the tunnel area.

    that sounds like my car.

    really bouncy on hwy 100. but my noise is real phantom. like moving from a stop. I hear like a creak.:hsugh:

    Hah, hwy 100... I always wonder if I look as silly as I feel driving southbound just below 62. The bumps resonate in just the wrong way to make me bounce in my seat. :laugh:

    I always hated coming up to that part of 100. They really need to fix that ****.

    Try getting under your car and wiggling your exhaust. Step one of this process is making sure it's not hot. :biggrin:
